Actually, I think the extra $$ for the limited is worth it. The heated power leather seats, the sub, more sound insulation, bright silver exterior trim, cabin filter, floor mats, TPMS and, lest I forget, the silver radio *****.

There was a base Spring Edition roadster with the limited exterior, SRT wheels, automatic and finished in Blaze Red. But still had the black base cloth interior.

And Nav was not standard on either model, it was an overpriced option. And now 4 years later, obsolete.

 

50lbs or so matters, but it is certainly not going to make highway mpg go from 25 to 21 though (which I think is what was stated as the quoted difference earlier in the thread)

Listen to 62thunderbird, if you go XF don't settle for less than a limited.
Base models are for purists who just want to drive hard and fast and comfort and gadgets are not neccesary.

SRT's have what you need, auto-shift and are a blast. You will have to let up on the gas once in a while so your cell phone signal can catch up. A minor annoyance.

Understand what you're saying...I have a base because I wanted the lightest possible configuration for autox (and my car actually weighed in at a hair under 2900 at nationals). However, it's not like a base is uncomfortable...it just doesn't have some of the niceties.

I meant no offense to base model owners. One of the best cars I ever owned (now don't you all laugh) was a base model Oldsmobile Starfire '75. I had to factory order it without AC just to get more weight out of the car. With a 115 HP motor I wanted it all to the wheels. Base model with a Muncie 4 spd and I drove it happily for 200M miles and cried when it sold.
15 years later I still have dreams where I'm driving it.
I had trouble finding a manual roadster without nav and fancy radio.
Did have a cup holder though.
Nothin' wrong with a base model. Get the guts and go!

Didn't think you meant any offense...just wanted to make it clear that the base model isn't bad, it's just that the Limited has bells and whistles that a lot of people want and/or are used to.
