So I have been having a pretty crappy week or two. I haven't been making money at work, injured my neck, sinus problems today. Well on my way home, I had a guy purposely pull up next to me and say: "your car....", and I started to do the smile and wave and think to myself, is great looking, is really unique, is fast isn't it, ect, ect. Then the guy finishes,"is the ugliest car I have ever seen!" I was dumbfounded. I staired slack jawed as if I had just seen a train wreck. I thought to myself, "this jack *** purposely pulled up next to me to tell me this." I felt the need to follow him and show him that beuty isn't skin deep, but he didn't want to play. He heard me downshift and ride next to him and decided to roll up his windows, close the sunroof and stare straight ahead. Which to be honest, was more mature on his part. I know what you are thinking, "what was he driving?" A previous body style Monte Carlo SS, Black, non Dale E edition, but by the sight of the guy driving it, he wished it was. A well built, styling wonder by GM! I thought to myself yell back, but I was torn on the fact that it was a x-fire owner himself, but most of all I was caught off gaurd and didn't have the creativity to come up with some as clever as,"I know you are but what am I?"

Anybody else get this one personally. I know Jeremy Clarkson ripped it, but later he recanted and said it grew on him.

There are people out there who think Gisele Bundchen is ugly. Go figure?

 

I think the guy was just yanking your chain and has Crossfire envy !
In almost 5 years of driving a Crossfire I have never had a BAD comment on the looks of the Crossfire only envy that they couldn't own or fit into one !

 

All his taste is in his mouth. I've never had a bad comment.

 

I am going to remember that one. Haha!

Some people hate them though. We got heckled driving down Woodward last year. People were yelling 'F&^$ Crossfires!'

I have heard people refer to the Crossfire as Chrysler's Aztek!

 

I heard some kid call it a "rat with no tail" while I was stopped at a light. I never even bothered to acknowledge him. To each its own..... I didn't buy this car to impress anyone.....I bought it because "I" like it and that's all that matters.

The worst I've heard so far is someone didn't like the wing. He's either being a weiner or yankin' yours.

 

There is always some portion of the population that just doesn't get it. This guy is one of them.

 

There are idiots everywhere, last year at woodward some punks said my Viper sounded ricey, and I have one of the meanest sounding aftermarket exhausts for that thing.

 

Well, no offense, but Vipers don't sound that intimidating. They sound, uh, different. The viper doesn't sound like it has 500 hp. Mustangs sound meaner! I love Vipers though and appreciate their sound because I know why they sound like that. THEY HAVE 10 CYLINDERS!!

As for this jacka$$, he's probably just jealous or he doesn't understand the design cues that recall art deco styling of the 30s. I've had people pull me over just to tell me how awesome my car is. Should have just smiled and laughed at him.

The Crossfire is one of those cars that peopel either love or hate. Top Gear hated the looks while Fifth Gear loved the looks.

 

My Father once told me "that no matter where you go you will always find one a$$h67e".....lol.

Anyone who spends their own hard earned money on something that looks like this....



....hasn't enough sense of style and design to comment on anything. I have never been offended by the insane ramblings of a lunatic, and would suggest that you not either.

I have, on more than one occassion, been given the thumbs up by passing motorists or even had them pull up along side with positive comments while driving along Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, CA. I think this is significant because there tend to be many more Porsche 911s, Bentleys and even Ferraris and Aston Martins along this stretch of road than there are Crossfires.

 

Don't let it bother you as.. the higher you are in life the more people will want to take a shot at you.. look at the presidents, the celeberties, and the oligarchy a lot of hate.. think of it like this, your sparking some kind of emotion from the person that is always a good thing.. hate/love conformity/rebellion beutiful/average.. there is only a thin line which sepertes those..

a person driving a Monte Carlo is no connsieur of design himself..

Crossfire has rebelious styling stating "look it me" more than just abou any car in it's price range and there will always be people that wont appreciate that, but it is fine by me.. as I bought the car for me and could care less what average people appreciate or don't..

I have had my share of negative comments and laughable comments... here is a few...

Dont remmber : "Damn man at the rate your going.. your going to own a Benz one day"
Sidez :-Open the hood

Hatchback Civic Kid :"I heard those are slow"
Sidez : -If under 13 seconds is slow for you, I wonder what you are driving

Pick up driver : "50 thousand for a 6 cylinder? are you Insane?"
Sidez : -I might be insane, but you are uneducated

Tahoe Soccer Mom : "A Stylish Car!! But you bought a car just for looks?"
Sidez :-I bought the car for you to notice me.. I am lonely and cold, I need some attention, please keep looking at it...
