Should I Buy An 2008 Crossfire at 2% Below Invoice?
Should I Buy An 2008 Crossfire at 2% Below Invoice?
Greetings! This is my first post; I searched for the info I'm looking for but could not find it. You guys have a wonderful forum here, thanks so much for allowing me to join in. If I'm posting in the wrong place, I'd ask a mod to please move it where it should go.
Through our employer, we have a deal with Chrysler where I can now get a 2008 Crossfire for 2 percent below invoice. I've wanted one for awhile now and figured that I had better jump on this before they stop production next year.
Here are my questions:
1. How good of a deal is this? I've heard that the dealers are letting them go with good discounts regardless.
2. Am I just as good off getting a 2006 or 2007 with low miles? How much money would I be saving this way? Or is the new 2008 with the discount the way to go?
3. Anything else that a person in my situation should think about?
4. I'm about 95 percent sure that I want this car (I love it for alot of reasons...) anything you guys can say to put me over the top? What makes this car so special?
Thanks for your insights! I really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Scott

Re: Should I Buy An 2008 Crossfire at %2 Below Invoice?
If invoice is around $34,000... and 2%... is like what...$700??? Am I doing something wrong here?
You should get it for 26k or less... you can get almost brand new SRT-6 even convertible ones for 25k... there is virtualy no difference between a 2004, 2005-2008 limited crossfire...

As much as we all like this car, we all know that it was a marketing flop, and while a great value the market price is about $25K - $27K.

IMHO - and I do have much less experience than many members here - unless you plan to save this as a last production year collector car I personally would go for a low mileage '05 or '06 - you could save upward of $10K for the exact same car with a year or two of warrantee left (and the option to extend it for a small price).

Make sure you test drive a SRT-6 too !!!

So, if I want a 2008 Limited Coupe, Automatic, no other specific frills, with the %2 below invoice deal or otherwise, what is a really good deal? Someone said $25,000. Could it be had for $22,500? Also, when do you think that the dealerships will stop offering them new? Thanks!

There is a only a small amount of 2008's on dealers lot, about 1000 if not mistaken. You could more than likely get a well maintained 2005 or 2006 Coupe for $18K - $20K with some of the warranty left nad have the ability to extend the warranty. Or for the money you could find a well maintained SRT6 Coupe.

Here's a search for automatics with under 15,000 miles, 200 miles or less from Birmingham. Tweek the search inputs, but this will give you an idea of the used car prices.

Re: Should I Buy An 2008 Crossfire at 2% Below Invoice?
Thanks so much you guys. I guess that now I need to really decide if I want to spring for a little more and get the new, or go with the used. My wife just asked me about safety ratings, is there a good thread on here for that? Thanks again.
Re: Should I Buy An 2008 Crossfire at 2% Below Invoice?
The best thing for safety ratings is actual owners' word of mouth and testimonials. We've had some members get involved in some pretty serious crashes......all walked away with very minor injuries.
Here is a thread where a member was at a dead stop and rear-ended at 50-55 mph! https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ighlight=crash
Don't be fooled.....this Car is a Mercedes SLK320.......overall a VERY solid and safe car!

It's worth considering over a used model if you plan to keep the car for any length of time. I think you can purchase a new Limited from a dealer for around $21,000 - $23,000 no problem. A dealer may still have 2006 and 2007 new Crossfires in their inventory.
