Hi All,

First I would like to thank all the folks who assisted in my getting on as a registered user. I had some problems getting registered and had lots of help getting the problem resolved.

Just aquired a 2005 coupe limited. Wow!! what a neat machine. I've had 6 other sports cars but this one is the best.

Would like to solicite some opinions from the experienced owners on here.

Is this auto transmission reall good for 80K with no maintance? Never have seen those sort of figures for an automatic transmission.

The recomended oil change interval is around 7k. I am going to guess that 3K would be better even if a bit costly?

Is there a direct replacement shift ****? This slick silver thing isn't too great at least not for me.

I have a origional West NAV CD. Won't do me much good as I'm on the East Coast. I'm trying to get the copy that another member has on here, but so far I've had no luck in getting it to work. Any ideas on where I can get a workable East CD?

Again thanks to those who gave me some much needed assistance.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. As you found out, it is a wonderful resource.

I too shared the same concern about the oil change interval. But, once I really thought about the 8.5 quart oil capacity and the use of synthetic oil, I have decided to only change the oil when the FSS system from the on-board computer tells me.

Heck, my "normal vehicles" recommend oil changes at 7500 miles and that is with regular oil and only a 4-5 quart capacity. So if 7500 miles is good enough with the those vehicles, then the 8.5 qts of sythetics in the Crossfire should be plenty good for 7-8k. I must say that regardless of what the service manual says, I use Mobil 1 in all of my vehicles and go no longer than 4500k between changes. Many would consider that 4500 miles is too short of an interval for Mobil 1, but I'm not going to take any chances.

Hi Steve, I got this Mercedes Benz shift **** from member "Silverfox"
I believe he has a few more in you want to send him a PM
New shift knob-100_3656.jpg New shift knob-100_3665.jpg

Also with these cars oil changes are recommended every 7000 miles.
With the 8 quart oil capacity and the use of synthetic brand oil this is fairly common.
I am glad to have been able to help in getting you membership here on the forum. Gary

Congrats. and welcome to our forum, where are you from? As far as the oil change, change it every 7,000 miles as stated befor its synthetic so it will be fine.
I changed my shift **** got it from Chrom Tec, here is a pic. of it.

I am with you on the oil changes..

welcome to the forum.. Steve

Also I would like to mention that it really comes down on the kind of driving you do... do you drive hard? do you do a lot of stop and go? do you live in a very cold environment? do you live in a very hot environment? do you use paper filters? if you answered yes to any of those questions than you should change your oil more frequently than someone that has answered no...

as for the transmission.. um.. well according to the service manual there is no need to replace the tranny fluid, but if I purchased a vehicle with that kind of mileage I would... and I plan to do it on my car when I hit around 60k.. that is if I ever hit 60k...

26k on the roadster odo over three (10-10-6k) summers. Run it all summer and change oil with Mobil1 0W-40 before it goes in the garage for the winter. No problems and the oil isn't that dirty. With two of them now, the summer miles will be less but oil will still be changed at the end of the driving season.
