Unhappy One less X Fire on the road

Hi guys and gals, Well last night on my way home i got nailed from behind at the I-84 and I-205 north bound, and its totaled . I was dead stopped due to traffic in front of me and wham, a lady in a Subaru legacy hit me doing approx 50 to 55 according to the driver behind her. I saw her coming and i kept hitting my brakes to get her attention, and i was about to hit the warning flashers, but it was to late. I'm pretty much OK except for a cracked vertebrae and some bump and bruises. She hit me so hard that the dash vent at the head light switch the nav unit got blown out, also the engine and trans mounts are broken , i think because the engine is sitting a little wonky and the air cleaner hit the rear cowling and the radiator mounts are broken . Here are some pictures of the car.

Well the important thing is that you're OK. That had to be somewhat uncomfortable feeling knowing she was coming at you and you had no where to go.

Thank God you're OK, Is she OK?

Thankfully you're OK, even though a cracked vertebrae is nothing to laugh at.
How was the other driver?

Question Re: One less X Fire on the road

At this time i don't know how she is doing. I asked at the accident if any one was injured and they said i was the only one going for a ride in an ambulance .

My sincerest condolences on getting your XFire destroyed. The type of blow you took from behind can lead to serious problems down the line. That "feeling okay" can turn into pure misery within a matter of weeks. Make sure you see a physician and be monitored through your recovery. The next trip should be to an attorney and learn your rights. It wasn't your fault and you should be compensated accordingly.

Thumbs up Re: One less X Fire on the road

Glad you're OK (except the neck!).

50-55? that doesn't look too bad. I'm glad you weren't in a Pinto!

Good to see you came out of it in mostly one piece and the car served its purpose to defend you to the death...Pretty weird the way the engine was moved, that hard of a hit through the power train. Looks like the rear end shoved forward pushing the driveshaft and transmission breaking everything. That could have been way worse for you. Happy shopping...

Well said Maxcichon.
I curse that "Great wall of Benz" everytime I try to lean my seat back just a little more. But as annoying as it can be, it protects our fuel tank, and helps make our cars more rigid than a Porsche.
In Alfdoc's case, it probably prevented a barbecue.

Glad you are pretty much OK. You will probably hurt more as the days go on for a little while.
Your car looks absolutely spotless too. What a shame.

I am glad to hear you are 'okay'... and heed the advice of others... make sure and get fully checked out a few times to make sure there are no hidden injuries. And... make sure to see that attorney.

The vehicle held up suprisingly well. The damage to you and it could have been much worse.

I suspect the drive line transmitted the force all the way to the engine because of the rear end being shoved forward as stated previously.

Hope you decide to upgrade to the SRT6...

Good luck... keep us informed.

I agree with Timelord 100%. Usually a fews days after this type of injury/accident you find there are multiple areas that will start to hurt. Definitly find a good PI attorney.

As hard as you were hit, the XF looks like it did what it was designed to do.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Hope your recovery is quick and painless. Cars can be replaced people can't.

Sorry to hear that, hope everyone is doing ok. Make sure you take good care of yourself, hurting the vertebrae is no joke.

Yea the cars doesn't look too bad for a freeway crash. Glad you were in a German built crossfire, not in a Korean Kia...
