Just bought my first Crossfire
Just bought my first Crossfire
Picked it up tonight after searching only two weeks for a replacement car for my Stealth with 275k miles. It was $14,150 out the door with the 7/70 and taxes. It's a 2005 base, black on black, with 18k miles, not a scratch on it. I love the blacked out look. I've been driving around all night with my buddy and can't wait to go to work tomorrow.
This will be my daily driver, I have a red 94' Viper for the summer weekends. But I feel like I'm driving a weekend car with this Crossfire.
Two questions so far: Is the fogging or water vapors in the headlights covered under my remaining 3/36 warranty? Since this is my daily driver, is 87 octane fuel ok?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!!
The lights are covered by warranty, first they will install a vent kit and if that does not work they will change out the whole headlight, be persistent with them and they will get this done.. I have had it done this way..
As for **** water? no don't drink it...

klamathpro,
Welcome to the best Crossfire forum on the planet!!!
Yes, as others have stated the headlights are covered... be persistant, find a GOOD dealer that will service your vehicle properly. If you feel you are being mistreated, find another dealer.
Premium (91 or better octane) is best to protect the engine from damage over time due to detonation. (Knock sensors only sense when a knock has occured, by then some damage or transmission of force has taken place, multiply this over time and you get real damage and possibly failure)
Hope that helps! The rest is below...

Klamathpro, welcome to the forum.
To me, the Base cars are very "Darth Vader" looking. Sinister, and intimidating, not to mention "Stealthy".
You may just find, that you won't be driving the Viper as much as you use to. My GTS hasn't been out of the garage even once since the Crossfire showed up, and that was nearly 3 years ago.
Enjoy your new car.

Re: Just bought my first Crossfire
Thanks guys. I have another question. It might just be different from what I'm used to and maybe it's just the way it is, but there seems to be a slight RPM hang between shifts. lt's like a half second lag before the rpms drop between shifts. My Viper and Stealth immediately start to drop once I pushed the clutch in and let off the gas, but the Xfire takes about half a second longer to wind down. Is this just the way they are?
Re: Just bought my first Crossfire
Your Engine is High Compression, use only "Top Tier" Premium Fuel for best economy and performance. If you look closely, I think you will see that the headlights are not fogged. They are de-laminating from the outside. Turn the lights on at night and look at them. It will appear to have lots of tiny cracks in the lense. This is standard equipment for Crossfires. They will all do it. A lot had this problem before they ever left the dealer lot when new. You can improve the issue without having them replaced(if your warranty is expired) by using Mequires Plastix Polish on them.
