I also raced (and beat) an '05 with a blower - same deal, he spun like hell off the line and with the first two shifts as the SRT just pulled away!
For the record - I own two mustangs, both Fox body (79-93) 5.0's, coupe/sedan models. One used to be a lot faster than the SRT, but it's back to stock now - it still sounds a lot faster! The other one is all show no go.

Re: I hate mustang owners :(
i've never really liked mustangs, except the real oldies, because they look so heavy- and they are. but i just looked up the crossfire's weight and they're similar. there doesn't seem like there is a big enough difference to be able to distinguish while on the street.
Re: I hate mustang owners :(
I got into a little road race with a 06 Mustang GT when I was driving an 04 Crossfire, I could stay right with him, but I couldn't get around him. It would also stay right with an 04 GTO till the auto trans shifted to 3rd, (that was the weak point of the 04) and the GTO slowly walk away.
Re: I hate mustang owners :(
Carefull now, I'm a new member who is cosidering selling my slightly modified 02 Mustang GT for a Crossfire. Just for the record, a 96 through 98 GT's 4.6 litre is 225hp, the 99 to 04 GT's have the performance improved heads and come in at 260hp. Of course Bullitts, Cobra's and Mach 1's are all together different depending on the model year. Anyway, you'll find poor drivers who make bad decisions in all kinds of vehicles, even Crossfire's. Nothing you can do about that.

In the long tradition of muscular Ford Mustang V8s, the 4.6L SOHC V8 engine under the bold hood of the Mustang GT features free-breathing 3 valves-per-cylinder and advanced variable cam timing. It cranks out 300 wild horses and 320 lbs.-ft. of raw low-end torque for awesome acceleration from a standing start. Go with the slick standard 5-speed stick or available 5-speed automatic.
Maybe he did not know how to drive it, but he said it had 300 HP and my 6spd. Ltd. beat him by a 1/2 car length from a 15 mph roll to 85 mph.

What the heck, I said sure ! From about a 5mph rollin start we gunned'em, while he was blowin tire smoke and tryin to keep the darn thing straight in his lane, the Crossfire was gone. Needless to say, once he got traction the pony caught me pretty quick. But then it was I with the grin from ear to ear !
Just my Dos Centavos !

thats the 05 and up though right? The only ones before 05 to have 300+ were the mach 1's and cobras.
Re: I hate mustang owners :(
When my wife told a gal she works with that I bought a new '07 Limited 6 Speed Crossfire with a lifetime powertrain warranty for less than $23K....the gal got uppity & said " I could have bought 2 of those for what I paid for my Mustang Convertible".......all I could do was laugh & think...."honey I think you should have!"

Re: I hate mustang owners :(
jesus i had a 94 GT with cold ait intake, bbk shorty headers, flowmaster full exhaust with x pipe, the car put down 198rwhp and 250 ft lbs., it ran a 14.2 quarter, nothng spectacular, my 05 crossfire roadster would take it from a roll i would say, and i have beaten stock stangs low 90's and high 90's even into the 2000's, the only stangs that are fast are the charged ones such as some of the cobras and saleens and what not. My old stang was about dead nuts from dead stop with my buddies 97 m3 he has some work done, until about fourth gear then he would pull away, with my crossfire from a stop i jump out on him and he runs me down and creeps by about fourth gear, from a roll he starts creeping away about fourth, honestly crossfire and late 90's and early 2000 stangs are very close stock for stock.
