Default turbo crossfire

yea yea yea i know its another one of these lol.
so heres the deal. i just met this guy that has a ear mount turbo kit on his crossfire and hes puttin out about 310 hp with 315torque. i asked him to send me a dyno sheet and if he had any a quarter mile slip. i talked to the company that tuned and put the kit on and i can get a stage three kit with ALL the essentials for 2500-2700 bucks. the tune im still workin on. im def. lookin forward to this considering the fact that i dont really like the srt6 for two reasons. the fixed spoiler and the rims. but thats just my opinion. if you dont believe me that this is done on an Xfire check out my user pics. hell for (a guess) of about 3500 bucks to have this installed thats a sweet deal considering the fact that an srt6 is like 11000 more. i plan on getting this done soon. anyone else interested??

Don't forget the fact the SRT6 only comes as an automatic...no bueno. He went with the STS kit then? Which company accomplished his tune?

With a stock ground clearance of 4 1/2 inches... then adding something like that... *SHUDDER*

The lag on that must be huge!

Glad to hear it works though... Cheers!

It does appear to hang a bit low. Wonder if a skid plate will be included with the next kit? I have had several cars with turbos and wonder about the heat generated on the passagners feet.

I don't see why you think engine pieces will be on the ground, our NA motors have forged cranks, forged connecting rods, piston oil sprayers, 4-bolt mains, and rigid blocks. the only downfall working against us is the 10.5 compression ratio so we can only boost up to 5-6psi.= 300hp easy, if you want to get serious I recomend srt6 connecting rods and the 3.7L piston and sleeve kit, srt6 water pump and oil pump. by this time I think an aux oil cooler should be installed to fight detonation due to heating the pistons with hot oilsprayers.

Why the hell wouldn't you put the kit in place of the rear two cats? It has a heat shield and body detent!

Good thing is it wouldn't need to make much boost on this motor or need an intercooler with all that piping out in the open air.

the cost of fabricating headers for this car is insane, like about $2000, this is why it's mounted in the rear, for economic reasons and simlicity. I myself think a vortec supercharger is a smarter design ,but your giving up hp with parasitic drag, so you might only put out 280hp vs 310hp with the turbo.

not headers... in place of the rear converters. "Mid-mount" if you will.

probably the same clearance issues, I'm sure the guys at sts already looked at that area.

here is a dyno chart on the 350z sts system. I can see there is a bit of lag in power down low , maybe due to the long piping required to push all that air, or else it's thier tuning software because of that wierd little blip in the lower rpms, strange tune?

i mean i think its a pretty sweet system. for the price its great! i mean no need for headers and all that crap. the kit comes with everything you need. the guys at sts told me that all i have to do is tell them how much power i want and its mine. i would love to reach about 300hp. i mean yea it may be a lil slower than the srt's but still its way cheaper. and plus for the people that hve the 6spd. it would make them happy too. im sure we'd give 350z's a run.

That blip looks like the transition between closed loop cruise and open loop WOT that happens right after you floor it on the dyno. They probably have the tune set up to fuel much heavier in open loop (than NA) and the turbo hadn't pushed enough air to bring the A/F into a favorable range yet.

Makes me wonder if any erratic response problems exsist during normal driving conditions.

Certainly a better alternative for our cars than $9,000 supercharger setups.

EDIT: Also, I just came across this quote while researching the kit... "STS, because only homos put it in the rear." I laughed.

you can purchase a new Vortec SC for $1000, make up your own brackets, and maybe buy a used srt6 sc pulley, your in for about $3000 completed.
