Arrow off topic subject but i need some answers

ok this kid i know is getting a camaro rs and it has a 350sb and its getting a supercharger. remember this is the rs not the iroc or the ss or z28. he thinks his car is gonna be runnin 11's but i called him an idiot. and i think the car would only see like mid to low 13's and high 12's if hes lucky. this kid is a moron like this kid thinks that just because an accord (4 cylinder) spedo says 160, he thinks it could actually reach 160 mph HAHAHA yea right lol. but anyone with some input lemme know.
thanks.

it is much more likely that he will fry his transmission or grenade his rear end than him running 11s. as with any car you cant just slap on a supercharger/turbo and get great performance. U have to upgrade the entire drive line to make it hold up.

Ahhh.... To be young and dumb again. I was one of those dreamers when I was young. Throw a big cam in that stock engine and run low 12's, that is what I used to think until..... The day I took my 68 Charger R/T to the track. I thought with that big old 440 with a cam, headers and a few other goodies, it would surely run in the low 12's. It was my first time ever at a 1/4 mile track and I was bragging to all my buddies.
To my horror the car could only do high 13's an I ate a lot of crow. There are so many factors in drag racing and just throwing a big cam or in this case a super charger isn't going to get you in the 11's. I would just rack this up as a young kid not knowing what he is talking about and then if the super charger would ever go on (I doubt it), then yo can laugh your guts out.

BTW, I do race all the time and have learned from my mistakes over the years. Older and wiser......

Me and my car

That's really two questions >>

1. Will a properly set-up 3rd Gen Camaro with a supercharged SBC run in the 11's? Absolutely - I could send you the pictures and time slips if you'd like to have a look.

2. Will a person that thinks the speedometer markings indicate a car's top speed be able to make this happen? My experience says "Nope".

If the camaro is 170hp stock, then the supercharger would have to be pushing a well-tuned, intercooled, 1 bar boost pressure to get his car into the 12's.

If he tunes the AFRs right, runs enough boost, and buys the right tires, he could easily get into the 12's.

Now, if you describe him as a "retard" then he'd better be a rich one, because if he's not doing the buildup himself, it's going to cost $$$ to pay someone else to get him there. Also, if he's unable to warm up his tires, drive straight, or shift right, then it's a lost cause.

There's no real danger of grenading that engine as long as it's tuned right. Also, I don't see a problem with the drivetrain making the trip in less than 13 seconds.
