What's DRB3? Is it like a CCM (Central Control Module) GM, that controls interior electrics and electronics?

Took my car back for repair again today, but they "claimed" they checked everything, the seat, resistance, circuit, and everything works fine. I told them the back of the seat get very hot, but the bottom still freezing cold, and their respond is "this is the way it is.... it only heat up little bit... only when a heavy person sit on it to activate it.... only on the side would heat up... " what I can do next? so now only the very left side of the driver seat wiould heat up just a little bit. while the passenger side stay cold.

i have the same issue , took to the dealer today, tested all the circuits they were ok ..
the issue is a wire that breaks inside the heat pad / seat base heater in the seat .
they order a new SEAT BASE HEATER , ...and yes they remove the seat and take the skin off ...

also i had the dealer check the seat reclining motor and it was bad also
2 known issues at the dealer where i live , they have address the issue before ... seat heater wiring breaks like a heat pad u use on your body .. and the power control recliner motor issues

the ordered seat recliner motor J# 2 68CHZ
seat base heater J# 1 49CHZ

huudoo, where are you getting your service ? I have used harry lane, but they always seem a little stand-off-ish, especially the parts dept. when I ask about crossfire stuff ,they act as if they have never heard of a crossfire and seem reluctant to want to help me. My wife just told me the seat heater went out, so i'll need service soon

Take it to another Dealer if you can.

Do they have problems putting the skin back? I think I read it somewhere in this forum that they do a bad job putting the skin back and messing up the shape under the skin.

Hey Shawn,
I use autotap for other vehicles and also the crossfire. It's software for a notebook hookup through the hardware device USB to the Link connector. It does work, I hooked it up and it found the VIN to the car and it gave me all the parameters and capability to reset any codes as well as prepare the vehicle for emmissions testing. They upgraded their software which covers more cars then before. My question for you would be is DRB3 any different? I noticed it's a little pricey as compared to a $200 price tag for other software. Thanks!

Put mine in the dealer yesterday; both seat bottoms are not heating. Dealer (Dar Cars, Marlowe Heights, MD) didn't even have a chance to look at it yesterday. Hopefully today. It will be interesting, after hearing all these horror stories about seat heaters to see what they tell me.

Stay tuned.

Well, talked to the service manager at Dar Cars. They decided the heating elements are burned out and ordered new seat bottoms. I told him this is normally a result of the control unit being bad and that if he replaces the heating elements without replacing the control units they will burn out again. He said absent a TSB this was all he could do.

Damn.

ok, my driver's bottom just went out. i have an '05 but it went into service in oct. of 04 so the 3 yr warranty has expired - right? what do i do? is there enough complaints that we can go to chrysler and get it fixed outside of a warranty? like in a large scale mfg defect?? i'm not paying $500+ to fix a seat heater but it sure was nice when it worked.

when i ask the tech if they removed the bottom seat cover, he daid NO
i thought the heater was made in the seat bottom cusion
the tech states they undo the back part of the bottom seat and slide the heater pad in from the back of the seat..

I took my car in for the heater problems on the bottom of the driver seat. I have to tell you the service tech did everything to convience me NOT to have it fixed. He told me it's a lot of work, and it might not turn out very well. Made me wonder just how they would fix it.
He did mention they would tear the seat down, but it would be done at an outside shop. Sooooo...I told him I could live with the back working and not the bottom......expecially since this is my first car ever with heated seats.

I hated being convienced to just leaving it alone, but with the tech telling me how hard it was going to be, I had to go along with him.

Just got a postcard from the dealer saying the parts are in to fix my seat heaters. That was fast; 3 days. Dealer said he would send it out to an upholstery shop. I have my fingers crossed.

Good to hear about the fast parts delivery.
An upholstery shop should do a much better job, than a dealership service department.

This seat heating issue is just ridiculous. It's an outrageously simple electrical circuit and problem. If MB cannot make it right, then they are idiots. All it needs are: an on-off switch, a relay, in some cases a rheostat, a bi-metal temp.sensor/safety switch, a heating element, and a fuse. However, knowing the Germans, they'll overcomplicate it, to the point of ridiculous, in stark contrast with the Americans (us) who will oversimplify it and build the bare minimum. There must be a happy, economical and reliable medium between the two.

The part for me actually arrived the next day I bought my car to the dealer, but I was out of town. Will take my car for the fix when I get back.
