Default Remote start? Chrysler says so!

http://www.chrysler.com/en/2008/cros.../remote_start/

Is this accurate? I want to get a remote start on my car and was wondering if this was true? Maybe I could take my car to a dealer and have them install it or something?!

I have one. You say you want one.
The rest of your message is not clear. Is what true?

Looks like a dealer installed option. They offer them on almost all vehicles with an auto trans.

Sorry.. It's just that I have never seen a remote start offered by the factory/dealer and it's interesting that they would add it in for 2008..

I wonder how much it would cost to get installed?

Oh,
Well they added it in early 07 and I have no Knowledge of the "factory" option, but I bet the after market choices are less expensive and they have been around for years so also probably they are perfected.

Viper and Hornet are the brands I have on my cars. Those include a few options, but I think you can get just the starter installed for around 250, based on what I paid for the whole package.

It is wise to talk to the installer and find one with Mercedes wiring experience so that they don't screw up the car.

I've had mine five years in one car and the most recent installed in October, I have never had a problem with the brands I have.

Good luck on your choice.

Dealer will problably come in much higher than aftermarket, however will be plug and play direct to wirring harness and fuse box.

Have had 4 aftermarket units on my cars and secret is finding a professional, not a wirring hacker. You will require the available relay for working with our key sentry security )about $45 extra. Should cost you around $300 for a good system

It's kind of difficult finding a professional installer, I don't know if it's just me but maybe I don't know what to look for.

Taking it to the dealer seems like it would be much easier, since anything that happens I could pin it on them..the extra cost wouldn't bother me that much.

Dealer install will most likely get you new keyfobs with remote button incorporated and bonus of no wires cut, considering cost and type of car we have is a good choice even if it does cost more.

Aftermarket downfall means you have one fob with key and one for remote starter, you still must use key in ignition and agreed finding a good installer is difficult, you have a very good sell for installing the OEM version..

I thoroughly agree with you both.
My reason to go aftermarket was purely driven by having a hightech security system installed. In fact the installation had started before someone mentioned that I could add the starter. So I just stumbled into the starter settup and do I ever like it.
Good luck,

You can use your stock keyfob with most any remote starter brand , all you do is select double pulse and it will crank on pushing the lock button twice within a selected time frame . Most crank on the second push in 3 seconds or so . No need to lose the keyless function or extra fobs . Professional installers know this

Well.......... Here is the real answer to the mysterious 2008 Remote Start buzz that is circulating. The answer to the question that we are all wondering is "UNFORTUNATELY.... NO!!!! YOU CAN'T ADD THE FACTORY REMOTE START FROM THE 2008 CROSSFIRE TO ANY OTHER MODEL.". I know.... I know... It hurt me also but it can't be done. The issue is that the 2008 even though it looks the same drives the same and rides the same, it doesn't talk the freaking same. They all come with a WIRELESS MODULE IN 2008. Our cars from 2004 to 2007 are the same with a major difference of having a SKIM MODULE. It's like talking in Arabic to a person that understands Grass or Hampster talk. I am going to get the 2008 and have it side by side with my 2004 and have a tech break it down when they come in but it seems impossible to the techs right now. I actually told the head technichian that I would pay up to $3,000.00 for the key fob integrated Remote Start and he says no. I still haven't given up hope but I have to get the 2008 in to see first. For now though my fellow CROSSFIRIAN'S IT LOOKS TO NO BE DUABLE. Keep ya updated.

Quick way to show you what a Wireless Module does is to do this. Take a 2007 or 2008 Dodge Ram Truck or any other vehicle that you know of from 2007 and newer and try to crank it. The Wireless Module will start a vehicle after you turn to crank it and quickly take your hands off the ignition. It automatically lets the car know to engage in the turn on feature while you don't even have your hand truning the key to the right manually. With the Skim Module you manually have to keep your hand turned to the right until the car is crunk and can feel the car engaging to crank. The 2008's also have an Adaptive Cruise Control that we don't have that also is thanks to the Wireless Module.

err...adaptive cruise control? You lost me tye. Do you mean that the 2008 Crossfire has one of those 70 ghz autocruise radars in the front? Haven't heard this before...

I live in Chesapeake Va and have been looking for a good remotestart installer, without any luck ( everyone says they have not installed remote start on a Crossfire before) Can you recommend a proffesional installer, especially one that can configure remote start with the factory FOB.

Most dealers offer this as a dealer installed options. Most of them are aftermarket products, but as long as the dealer installs it, it is warranted. Sometimes you have the option to program your OEM FOB, or you get a new one that comes with the starter kit. In this case they program it to do all the functions the OEM comes with such as locks, window opening, hatch or door openings (such as SUVs or Mini Vans).

I had one installed by my Nissan dealer when I bought my Armada.

FYI: If I turn the key on my crossfire, it starts on its own if I take my hand off the key.

It is a 2005 (SRT)
