Post New Fog Light Bulletin...did you know?

I took my "baby" in to have the driver side fog light replaced. The cap which covers the bulb had popped off and was just bouncing around in the fog light. I was told that it could not be repaired and that the whole unit needed to be replaced. This minor replacement was supposed to take 2.5 hrs. Instead, I won't get my "baby" back until tomorrow afternoon.

Why, you ask? Well, I found out that there is a service bulletin on all Crossfire fog lights. They have to replace them both but only had the driver side in stock. The bulletin states something like the fog lights should be replaced because that little mischievous cap will eventually pop off and dance around the casing. This raises some safety concerns, not to mention it doesn't look good to have parts bouncing around on the Xfire. The new fog light is supposed to have better intensity and be of better quality.

I searched this site and could not find any threads concerning a fog light bulletin. So, I'm not sure if this is a new bulletin or not. I don't want to duplicate postings...I know some of us get a little cranky when we have to read the same question/comment over and over .

In case you didn't know (like me)...there is a bulletin to replace both fog lights. Drive safe...

Is this on 05s as well ? I had two lenses break on my 04. It took only about a 1/2 hour to change one.

I have an '05, and it had the old fog lights in.
I don't know if it's a TSB, but if you replace one, you're supposed to replace both as they look different.
There's a thread on her somewhere which shows old & new.

Use your fog lights all the time and hit a few small pot holes.

Shouldn't this be a recall instead?

I use my Fog Lights with the Headlights 100% of the time and I live in Virginia. Virginia Roads are like Wagon Trails... hmmm, I wonder if I could pull the bulbs out and poke them lose from the backside...

Nah. Recalls take entirely too much time and paperwork. TSBs are much neater.

Yeah I know, it's more work for them, but I thought that TSB are not required to fix unless they break, and recalls are required to fix pro actively.

A few potholes would be worth it...the new fogs r bright. Almost as bright as HID's.

I got my baby back the next day 'cause they did not have passenger side fog in stock. It would've been longer but I made a call to the Service Manager...somehow a fog magically appeared. Imagine that!

Sorry...don't have the number but the dealers know about it. If you let them know that you know, they won't deny it exists.

Yes I had this done last year. The right side fog light cap had come off. Came back at the end of the day and two shiny new foglights were in their place.

One of the few times I've been happy with my dealer. The new fogs are definitely much brighter and look prettier.
