Rear Marker lights
Rear Marker lights
Hi Everyone.
I have an odd question. In the owners manual it says that the side marker lights should come on when the gear selector is in the "D" position. The also say "where applicable" for daytime running lights. My rear sidemarkers never come on, even if I have the lights on and the vehicle is in DRIVE position. If I switch on the hazards, the front side-markers come on, but still not the rear ones. Also, the light outage indicator doesnt come on, so I dont think that the globes are out...
Can anyone help?

Re: Rear Marker lights
In the manual, page 74, it says:
"

EXTERIOR LIGHTS
Headlights and Parking Lights
Headlights and Parking Lights
When the headlight switch is turned clockwise from OFF
to the first position, the parking lights, taillights, side
marker lights, license plate lights and instrument panel
lights are all illuminated.
The headlights turn on when the switch is turned to the
second position.

Lights-On Reminder
If the headlights or parking lights are left on after the
ignition is turned off, a warning will sound if the driver’s
door is opened.

Daytime Running Lights (Where Applicable)
VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The low beam headlights, parking lights, side marker
lights, taillights and license plate lights are automatically
switched on whenever the vehicle is started and the
transmission gear selector is in a driving position.
VEHICLES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION
The low beam headlights, parking lights, side marker
lights, taillights, and license plate lights are automatically
switched on whenever the vehicle is started and the
parking brake is released.
For nighttime driving, the exterior lights switch should
be in the low beam position to permit activation of the
high beam headlights."
I THINK this is generic and the rears are reflectors only, not illuminated.
BUT I haven't actually LOOKED!
anyone else?

Re: Rear Marker lights
My side markers (front and rear) illuminate when the any of the lights (parking, headlights, fog lights) are turned on. No need to have the ignition on and it doesn't need to be in drive either. I have an Automatic Transmission. Hmmm. You're in South Africa aren't you? Good luck with that.

Anyway, I took out the rear sidemarker and it doesnt have a wire going to it, and the place for the globe is sealed off. I guess it's probably something to do with South African road rules/regulation that a car cant have marker lamps. I dunno...
