Default Canadian bumper shocks

Has anyone imported a crossfire to Canada and if so where did they get the bumper shocks from? Were you able to order them without buying the whole bumper cover and assembly? What did it cost you to order them and where did you get them? Thanks

In process of having my 05 Ltd Coupe being done in Edmonton as this is written, ALL that is required is the 5 shoxs and the daytime lites module all from any Chrysler dealer, mine are being installed by an independent shop to keep prices down

I used a broker, that I have had experience with Brian Krushen
780 419-2191 tell him what you want he sources it, you pay a deposit and the car shows up in Edmonton ready to rock!!!!
Less Stress.

Hey Terry I'm in BC also (Vancouver) - any idea what ICBC requires when you import a car from the states? I'm guessing you have to go through AirCare as well.... any help on the process would greatly help me out, thanks.

I went through this whole thing....One member paid the 3000+ the stealership quoted to replace and paint the front and back bumpers. The dealer here in town tried to rip me off as well.

I learned it's not necessary. I purchased the bumper absorbers directly from a smaller dealer. Don't tell them you imported the car. Just ask for the bumper absorbers as if you are a repair shop. I got mine for 613.10 including tax. i'll have them installed by a smaller autobody facility and be into it for 1000.00 I also had them order a couple decals "Powered by Mercedes"

Hope that helps.

Cheers from kelowna!

Very helpful info. Did you go to Canadian tire for the inspection afterwards?

Do you also need a letter of recalls (or something like that) as well as a letter from Chrysler about the car you are importing?

Yes, Cdn Tire for inspection. To my knowledge, all they do is check your invoice for purchase and installation of the bumper absorbers. Maybe they see some wrench marks on the bolts, maybe not... .My feeling is they go strictly off the invoice... Cdn tire boys don't study at NASA, and they don't harbor any bad feelings that you imported your car- unlike the stealership. They aren't looking to snag you, they just appreciate your business to install the running light module.

I'm tracking my car and it hasn't traveled very far from FL I posted an inquiry to DAS customer service.
The anticipation is growing....

Happy Holidays!

Cheers!

Update: I swerved on Icy roads while on a downgrade to miss a deer on route. Whew!
(Don't let any Americans tell you they don't get snow!) The 4X4 was on most of the way to Lakewood WA.

I pre-arranged a uhaul car carrier trailer not far from car pick-up point. be prepared to purchase, or Bring 4 2X8 or 2X10 planks to offset the ramp angle while loading. . A couple bricks to prevent sag is also good to have.

I faxed both sides of title 72 hours prior
At border: (sailed through at 1:30 AM in about 20 minutes)
I showed them the stamped title
(You need the American side to first stamp the Tittle on the way into the Us or you'll be directed back there coming into Canada)
I showed them a letter of recall from a dealer.
I showed them the bill of sale.
i showed them my money transfer receipt.
GST is now 5%
They filled out Form 1 and gave me copies
They gave me the RIV internet contact site

When you get home you need to Pay online www.riv.ca
FAX RIV your Form 1 and recall letter (from Dealer)
Within one business day they email you a PDF Vehicle inspection Form....It may state some compliance requirments..Metric spedometer, Odomerter label, infant restraint kit. A "FRENCH SRS label if equipped with an airbag that needs periodiuc maintenance., Air bags must be functional. This vehcile may require mods to the bumper system. Recall documentation is not required on this vehicle.( Crossfire Roadster)

If I was to purchase any low clearance car a second time, I'd probably pick it up myself having experienced some damage caused by the DAS auto transporters. Internet reports say they sdon't pay claims even though you purchased their insurance.

Cheers!

Transport Canada is reviewing the 8 kph bumper standard. Looks like they will adopt the U.S., and Europe standard of 4 kph as early as this summer. Article can be found at Globeauto.com

Know the area very well. As a youngster I used to go to a camp on Basshaunt Lake which is just below Eagle Lake. Our summer home is about 35 minutes from Sir Sam's
