Ok, Ok, Ok, calm down. First of all, Irwin is good people, he just seems to have a short fuse sometimes. Irwin, you and Shini need to just get along. We all know this forum isn't a hostile community.

Keep in mind, I have been a Rotary Fanatic for YEARS, I've had 5 of them. An FB, 2 FCs(1 S4 Roadster, 1 S5 GTUS), and 2 FDs. I know the merits of the 13B. I owned the S4 Roadster until very recently, and miss it everyday. It was the most fun car to drive EVER, and I've owned at least 25 sporty cars over they years. I bought my SRT-6 in July. I had made up my mind that I was going to buy a 2005+ used RX-8 GT 6-Speed, had a deposit on a Shinka with 11,000 miles on it and was scheduled to pick it up when I got home from Vacation. I had been settled on an SRT-6 previously, as I had gone to a Road Racing school that used them, and they BLEW MY MIND, how good and fast they were. I changed my mind from the Crossfire for practical reasons. Mostly because I didn't think I would fit in the Crossfire comfortably for long periods of time( I don't while wearing a Helmet, so race days are painful) I liked the idea of the back seat for room extra junk storage. I LOVE the look of Both cars. The RX-8 and Crossfire embrace what both cultures are all about in my opinon. I can't say I like one better than the other visually.

What changed my mind again, was I decided to drive the Shinka for about 36 hours before buying it, just to make sure it was the right car for me ( I was certain it was, as I owned 2 other RX-7s at the time). Well, after driving it, something just didn't do it for me. I still don't know what it was. The handling of the 8 is unreal, but I guess I was just tired of driving cars that you had to beat the crap out of to get them moving. The Torque Bug just couldn't be satisfied. So I took the 8 back and got my deposit back. I went back the to drawing board. I though about 350Zs, GTOs, C5, G35, Mustang GT and they all had glaring weaknesses that I found unsatisfactory. So, I went back to the Crossfire. I thought I should try one on the street as I had never driven one in a non competition environment. I found a Roadster to drive and decided I liked it. I didn't want a Roadster(too expensive). I started looking for a coupe and found the one I bought. I couldn't be happier. It's a beast and it handles better than 95% of the cars on the road and it 90% as fast as a Viper with a few Bolt-Ons.

That's my story. I still have love for all things Rotary, but my other Auto obsession, MOPAR, got me again. I actually traded a HIGHLY modified SRT-4 in for it. Remember me posting that picture on RX8CLUB of the insane burnout prior to the low 11 Second pass in the Neon? It was well traveled on the RX8CLUB, and it's in my user gallery on here.

Welcome aboard, I'll come over and say hhigh in RX8CLUB!

Are you serious?!

I never even said you were weak minded Irwin, I just said seeing how quick people are to jump to wanting to just beat the tar out of someone shows how they much they are. You can't be THAT bad if you're doing so well for yourself without going to college and dropping out of High School.

I didn't even come here to talk about the RX-8 at all, AT ALL. Just to share the story and laugh about it. BUT you and a few others INSISTED on posting something about how slow it is, or how it's a ricer car, etc etc etc. I'm not going to just lay down and let you guys beat up on a great car like that without giving it some sort of a fight, even if I am in enemy territory. Had you have been calm, cool, and collect we could have just laughed about the story and all been on our ways.

I have no idea how you thought I was pushing my idea's on you, I never once said that you need to lose the Xfire and get the 8, ever. As for I'm not welcome, you seem to be pretty much the only person in the thread that I've gotten a negative vibe from so I fail to see that. As far this not being debate class, I could make up a joke and ask how would you know, but I'm not going to because I'd rather get past this pissing contest and just move on and to help you just let it go.

As for me being a ricer, I do like rice, and if that makes me wrong, I don't want to be right! What else would I eat with my shrimp? Shrimp fried beans? I think not!

And you did insult me, you insulted me by calling me a ricer and saying the car is slow (god forbid)! And the twisties is what the 8 is all about man! The corners, etc etc. It's probably one of the cars you'll have the most fun in on a track, going around corners on empty public roads pretty quickly, etc. It brings a smile to your face. That's what I'm talking about!

And as for me insulting you, as long as you're gonna be carrying around that kind of punk *** behavior towards me and not chill out and just understand this was all a joke to begin with and I didn't come here to start anything, then yeah, I'm going to keep doing it. If you'll just calm down for one second then I'll stop completely, I didn't have a problem with you until you had one with me.

As for this being a Xfire site, I think you're taking the boundry issues a little too far here mate. I'm not some other country invading yours, we're all people here, we just happen to drive different cars, I don't see why it's such a "national" threat that I'm on here talking to you guys. This is an Xfire enthusiast site, not a boys club (I could be wrong though).

And I don't think I mentioned it, I figured since something bothered to look at my profile on the 8 forum and link it to you guys that you would have known I'm 21

I have no idea why you got so frustrated, you seemed to be taking it all in stride up until now

Sorry if I offended you, but man, you just wouldn't STOP.

Ah well, I guess there's no reason in going much further since you'll probably never read this anyway.

And I'm never going back to my egg rolls, I hate those things, they're nasty! And I hope we do cross pathes someday, maybe we can kick back a few and put this all behind us then since you obviously aren't willing to do that here. And we may never meet face to face, but I hope you would never do anything to someone just because of what they've said on the internet. That's taking things a bit far, I mean c'mon, it's just the internet, everyone is liable to say anything. You just have to roll with it and understand it's just a joke, or just laugh it off and be the bigger man.

\

?? He has a fuse?

I don't think I've seen what you were talking about on the 8club, you'll definitely need to give me a link!!

I understand what you're talking about, but you have to admit the car is a ton of fun to drive while kicking the crap out of it - And it actually likes having the crap kicked out of it and begs for more!

I did some light reading on the SRT-6 and I'm pretty surprised by it, had that have been on the lot when I was shopping around for my next car I probably would have gone for that. And then I'd have to be typing this from a jail cell, because the last time I had a car with over 300 HP, I got into trouble very frequently. Having a Trans Am at such an early age probably wasn't the greatest idea, but it did teach me a lot.

Good to know that you found a car that does it for you, what you should have done was done away with the 8 and the Xfire and looked at getting a mint condition 7

Probably not the most reliable daily driver out there, but who cares, you'd be in a 7!

I suppose so!

I thought the Xfire had around 215 HP stock though(?), the RX-8 has around 230, you'd think the 8 would win especially since the Xfire probably weighs a bit more. If not then I can understand why it'd be a hell of a race

Actually, the two cars are quite closely matched in many areas, at least "on paper". Have a look at Road & Track Magazine's data panels for each (PDF documents for the RX8 here, Crossfire here) and you'll see what I mean. The Crossfire weighs a mere 60lbs more than the RX8 and, although the Mazda makes more HP the Crossfire makes more torque. A lot more. But all the performance numbers are very, very close even though the Crossfire was tested on a much hotter day than the RX8 (93F vs 69F). In fact, acceleration, braking, skidpad, even fuel economy are so close as to be statistically insignificant. Heck, you could probably find differences similar or even greater between a pair of RX8s or a pair of Crossfires! I'm actually quite surprised that the Crossfire was 2.1 mph faster in the slalom since everyone seems to rave about the RX8s handling dynamics while the Crossfire is met with mixed reviews. R&T calls a 1 mph difference significant in the slalom, and this is such a great test of a vehicle's transitional response.

Now, don't think I'm saying R&T is the be all and end all of testing. I'm just using their info since it is consistant test protocols from model to model. Certainly hard numbers don't tell the whole story and you really need to get behind the wheel and truly flog a car to see what sort of confidence it inspires, or doesn't. Even then, it comes down to what YOU really like and want in a car. Again, I am surprised the two are so closely matched on paper.

It should be noted that the RX8 road test dates back to April 2003 when it was initially marketed as having as much as 250HP. Mazda subsequently revised this number downward to something like 238HP. I've not heard if the torque number was also revised downward or not.

Alright that's it, I've had it!!! You came on here just to start trouble and you just have to keep digging at everything until you **** everyone off.
I don't care what you say about the Crossfire, but now Eggrolls? You hate Eggrolls? That's taking things to far, and shrimp fried beans? have you ever even had shrimp fried beans?......... Of course you haven't, no one has, that was a stupid question. But eggrolls, who doesn't like eggrolls?
Come to think of it I don't like eggrolls either, they have shrimp in them and I don't like shrimp. I don't like your car either, mines superior, I don't know why but it just is. So just watch your step buddy.......... Eggrolls my eye. Trouble maker.
Respectfully yours,
Rick

I don't think the Torque was ever changed, but the HP was changed twice. After that 238 they bumped it down to 232.

Sad thing about all this is, the first 2 years of production the Auto's had a 4-port engine in them instead of the 6 port that came on the manual. So the auto's don't even produce 232. They're more around 200 or so. (Ughh!) Even with the different motor, I still love the car

I can't believe that they are that close, that's pretty interesting! Eitherway though, I picked the car for it's looks and how good it is overall, I'm not going to be nitpicky about it's HP or torque, the car is wicked fun to drive and it looks hot.

Now if they would stop playing around with us and give us some manufactured FI!

My burrito could beat your eggroll in a race ON THE DRAGON SPINE!

And it's 5 cents cheaper, that's a no brainer!

AND it comes with those fried beans!

The eggroll is lighter and stiffer, makes for better handling, but it lacks the jet propulsion of a bean burrito, if you know what I mean, so your probably correct. As far as being 5 cents cheaper, it's because it's made cheaper, that'll prove itself out in the long run. Champaign and eggrolls or beer and burritos, which would you rather have?

Well, the eggroll may not have the same amout of propulsion as the burrito, but it's all about the dessert, the way you feel after driving around in the eggroll and the burrito is totally different. The eggroll is very light, and fulfilling, the burrito on the otherhand, makes you bloated, and makes you feel awkward when it's time for dessert.

As far as the cost goes, it is made cheaper, because they don't need another stores ingredients to make it, that costs extra, you know!

And when it comes down to the drink, as long as it's not milwaulkies best, who cares if it's beer?!
