I do want to have a little more power, power is fun, even if I don't know that much about cars.

Talking Re: crossfire questions/stories/pros/cons

Just got to work after dropping the ragtop off at the dealer (35 miles) I was first in line and the fella' behind me ('07 Commander and real clean) asked, of course "What IS that?". After I filled him in, the service writer addressed me by name, noticed I had just gone over it with Ice QD and told me his guys wouldn't touch the paint as he didn't want to send it to the bodyshop for a detail. (With a Big smile). The other customer asked if it broke down a lot and I told him "it doesn't break down" and the service writer finished for me: "Ever".

God, I LOVE this car.

I would just like to throw out there that I would much have rather have the SRT Alcantara "faux suede" seats. I have been pretty disappointed with the quality of the leather in my limited... and I know I am not alone. Numerous owners have complained about the 'quick to wear' leather on the driver side left bolster. It's disappointing that a car that gets so much right could fall short on such a simple thing. I recently rode in my buddies '93 Explorer Eddie Baur edition. The leather was old but smooth as could be with hardly any of that cheap creasing/color fading that plagues the Limited XFire's seats. Yeah the XFire is basically a MB, but I wonder if the seats are Chrysler? Anyways sorry for my rant... but the leather seats in this particular case aren't all what they are cracked up to be!

PS I condition my leather every so often... so its not like I abuse them!

A regular xfire would be fine with me, just don't think that someone who doesn't know the difference between regular and premium fuel should be purchasing a 1 of 2016 vehicle. IMPO this is an auto enthusiasts car, not average joe's accord.

What do you currently drive? Just gauging what you'll be stepping up from.

yeah he should. half the fun is figuring out what you have, what it can do and what you have to do... and then modding it out -after reading the owner's manual of course.

I have a dodge ram right now, V8. And I don't really know that much about cars no.. but who says I have to start out at the bottom, can't I just get the SRT-6 and find out what it can do, and learn from there? I really like the car, but I want to have a car that has power also, because once I find out all there is to know, i'm going to be dissatisfied and want MORE when I can't afford it.

I would have to agree with this. I fall into this catagory and I don't regret buying this car I know (knew) nothing about.

This might be a dumb question also.. but relating to gas...
The Crossfire calls for premium, i'm not really that car savvy.. I've never pumped premium. Is premium always the to the far right? It's labeled different at all places, supreme..etc.. god i'm an idiot!
Seriously, are you kidding? No offense, but I don't want to waste my time dealing with a 13 yr old kid messing around on the internet. For the gas, read the labels at the pump! Premium is the most expensive.

As for the leather, Alcantara (faux suade) is considered more exclusive in the car world. Lambos, and other high end vehicles come with Alcantara seating surfaces. It helps keep the driver from sliding around. Also, it is easy to clean, doesn't crease easily, stays warm when it's cold out, and stays cool when it's hot out. Besides, the SRT-6 seats are leather, but with alcantara seating sufaces in the center. The bolsters are still leather. Do a search about Alcantara and fine autos on the web, you'll quickly realize how nice it is.

My G35 Coupe had leather. It was nice, but it wore quickly and got creases and etc. quickly. That is the nature of leather, it does crease. You can surprisingly, remove some of the creasing with a hot iron and a towel or piece of card paper.

Wink Re: crossfire questions/stories/pros/cons

i've always loved this vehicle from the first time i saw it in the commercial. when i went looking at them in dealerships and saw the sticker price i sqaushed my dream because $41k is for me a WHOLE lot of change! i was then in my early 40's and had just started to realize that i'd be retiring within 15 years or so and i wanted to be on the right financial path to have enough to live on and pay off most of my debt. anyway, when i heard the crossfires were no longer going to be made, i decided to go for it! much to my surprise, the many crossfires had been leased to chrysler employees at low rates to get them moving out of inventory and and once the leases were up they were being sold for really great prices. i got mine with 10k miles on it for approximately 1/2 of the original cost. finally it was within my reach. i checked out cars.com, google, ebay, etc and found many of them. the one i found was only 3 hours away from me which allowed me to go look at it and test drive it before actually buying it. the minute i saw it at the dealership i knew i had to have it. the salesman came out with the keys and many other customers came up to me and said what a beautiful car it was and asked if i was buying it. even before i drove it, i said yes because i was afraid it was going to be "poached"! while i test drove it, it was 80 degrees out, unusual for an october here in the northeast, so i had the top down. 4 people shouted out their windows "hey, nice car" or something to that affect. i also encountered an man in an audi tt convertible almost the same color as mine and had very similar features as the crossfire. he asked me and my friend in the car with me to pull over so he could see it. i did that which i'm sure is a big no-no but once we were together he was just a harmless audi owner intrigued that the crossfire looked almost identical to his and that i would be paying less than 1/2 of what his cost him the year before! anyway, on my way back to the dealer i told my friend i will have to have this car! i knew then that it is going to be my dream car, my keep-forever-car-even-if-i-can't-drive-it-4 months-out-of-the-year car! i never understood people treating their cars like a child or a prized possesion.....i do now! you should definitely consider this vehicke!

Old thread but what the heck, here are my experiences.

I started a new job 2 months ago, every single person who works at the back office or at the kitchen, came to me at one point and said "is that white car yours?" and when i said yeah, they were like, "wow, that is a nice car. what kind of car is it?"

merging on the highway, spoiler deploys right in front of an SUV, suv gets right beside me and two teenagers in side the suv, looking at the spoiler with shocked face and saying "wow, that's cool" (reading their lips).

car in my friend's garrage, we were replacing the steering dampner, two guys walks in front of the garrage and says " hey, that isa nice car!! what is it?"

met up with this girl from school at a gas station to give her books, she says "oh hey, what kind of car is that? it is really nice"

met up with a girl whom i met at a mall for a date, when i pulled into parking lot where she was waiting for me, she said "wooooowwww, that is a nice car. I dont think i have ever seen a car like that before, what kind of car is it?"

cons: gets too much attention and makes you cocky.
