Wiper Noise
Wiper Noise
Ok, I checked the threads and didn't see this one...
I've had the car less than 6 months. The first week I had it we had a minor storm and I had to change the wiper blades. All well and good. Now 4 months later we have a nice storm that lasts several hours (boy do we need the rain bad).
While the wipers were running, I was somewhat annoyed at the noise being created while they were cleaning the windshield. It sounds like a tapping noise. Being the analytical person I am I tried to find out what could be the cause:
Wiper skip on a dirty windshield? No. It's clean.
Wipers skipping on a windshield without enough water? No. Does it all the time no matter how much rain is on the windshield.
Wind picking up the wiper and having it chatter? No. Does it even when standing still.
Wipers not the right size hitting the window frame? No. I checked. It looks ok and its the right one per specs.
I can't figure it out. It sounds like its coming from the motor area, that there is something hitting the body of the car, firewall, or something. Don't want to break something...
I don't use the wipers that much because we just don't get the rain. But it would be nice if they were quieter.
