Speeding Crossfire
Re: Speeding Crossfire
Hello,
I have gone 135 mph in my '04 xfire. Without getting a speeding ticket, but got a ticket for not have the front license plate on the car. Isn't that stupid? Anyone have their front license plate mounted on the car? Would like a picture to see what it looks like? What's your top speed in the xfire?

Re: Speeding Crossfire
I just put my front plate on yesterday.
Spent 2 weeks debating (that's how long I have owned my XF).
Used velcro to hold the plate holder on and evaluated it on and off for two weeks and finally decided it didn't look that bad and beat getting a $85 ticket.
Will take pics and upload tomorrow.

I was coming home from a Dolphins game on I-95 going about 75 to 80 through a posted construction zone with a speed limit of 55. (Double-fine in CZ). Now bear in mind that this was at about 5-ish on a Sunday afternoon, that there was very little traffic and virtually no real highway work going on in that area, and that there were certainly no highway workers anywhere around. No construction work on Sundays around here.
Well, I got pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol. I did not question why I was being pulled over. I politely gave the trooper my license, registration, and insurance card as he requested and he went back to his car while I waited for what I expected to be a very expensive ticket. (I should mention I have a very clean driving history.) 5 or 10 minutes later, he exited his car and handed me a warning notice and he asked that I be more careful of my speed. I told him I was quite surprised and extremely thankful. Heck, I don't even have a decent cleavage! I asked to shake his hand but he refused. No matter, I was thrilled and I genuinely appreciated his generosity. I still do.

This time, without my saying a word, the trooper started out by immediately stating he was going to let me off with a warning as long as my driver's license came back clear. He did not ask to see my registration or proof of insurance, even when I asked if he wanted it. He soon explained why.... rather than giving me a $250 speeding ticket, he was going to give me a speeding warning and two no-point $7.50 tickets for not having those two documents with me. He asked if I thought that was fair. Naturally, I said he was being beyond fair.
I don't know why I've been so lucky (3 speeding warnings/no tickets in two years of XF ownership) but he gave me my warning and $15 in tickets, cautioned me about speeding, and I was back on my merry way.
