Lenoir City is at least an hour if not farther from the dragon, I would think 60 plus miles to the Dragon.
On the TN side I would stay in Townsend or Maryville if you want to be close. Both reasonably priced. More places to eat/drink in Maryville.
Townsend and Maryville are within 30 minutes of the bottom of the Dragon. About an hour to the store with the added benefit of going up the Dragon on the way. You can take the Foothills Parkway over to 129, good road to cruise. Several pulloffs with spectacular views.

Thanks for the info, I changed many of the others myself before posting, they are "Pie in the Sky" times to get you to go to their Area. All of the ones on my NC side were way too short on time & I changed them. I'll update this as well. I thought Maryville might be a good spot on the TN side.

Out of curiosity where are most of the members staying? It would be nice if we all stayed at the same place because at the Woodward Dream Cruise most members stayed at the same place and in the evenings we would meet in the lobby and sit and talk. I enjoyed that just as much as the cruise.

I don't want to have to tell people where they have to stay, especially this 1st shake out year. Plus, with maybe 30 - 50+ XFs (60 - 100 people) coming, there may not be a place that can hold them all, in these small towns.
Thank you for your question, I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.
