My First Post, My First Mod
My First Post, My First Mod
Hi!
New to the forums. Thought I would post my two mods and my story about how I came into my Crossfire. A 'Big Thank You!' to Dan for these beautiful emblems for my Crossfire and helping me to install them this afternoon before the Bears game.
My Story
When the Crossfire was just a concept, my TiVo had an advertisement for it with the option to receive literature from Chrysler. I did and fell in love with it. But the price was not right for a struggling waiter.
By 2005, I had moved up the ladder in life and was now managing a branch for Bank of America. I was driving a Hyundai Elantra GT. The Air Conditioning went out in the middle of July. I thought to myself...maybe now is the time. I could make a $400/mo. payment and maybe get $2,000 for my car to cover the TTL. So i jumped on eBay and looked up Crossfires. I was trying to keep it at or under $20,000. Which excluded the SRT-6 and the limited edition model. But I would just be happy to get my hands on a stripped down, base model Crossfire. It didn't have to be special.
So I found a base model, used Crossfire with under 10K miles on it on eBay a Toyota Dealership in Orange County, California. I lived north of Los Angeles. It was going to be a 2 1/2 hour drive in the blistering heat with no air conditioning, and to top it all off it was a stick. I had NEVER driven a stick before in my life. My test drive was going to be my first lesson. The ad on eBay had it at $19,900 and it was charcoal gray with gray leather interior. I was happy.
I got down to the dealership and they asked me if I wanted to see the car. I told them absolutely and they took me out to the Charcoal Crossfire and opened the door. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Two tone red/gray interior with Infinity Sound System, the works. It was the limited edition model. I looked at the guy and said "Are you sure this is the right car?" and he said "I'll go inside and look but this is the only Crossfire we have"
The guy came back out and was like "Yeah, we used Stock Photography of Crossfires that we found on the web, sorry for misleading you. My manager said he would be willing to drop the price to $16,800 if you'll buy it today." My heart skipped a beat. I agreed to the deal after having it independently inspected. I always expected a call from that Toyota Dealership telling me that they sold me the wrong Crossfire or that the Crossfire pricing was wrong, but I never did. I've owned it for a little over a year now.
I took the car in for its 35,000 mile inspection and the service guy at the Chrylser Dealership at Harbor Chrysler in Ventura (his name is Julian. Ask for Julian. He's amazing and extremely knowledgeable) took good care of me. Asked him to look at the transmission and he said it looked perfect. They never took me for a ride. They were very comfortable to deal with. He gave me the Mopar Accessories book and asked me to take a look at it and see if there was anything I wanted a deal on. I saw the blue glowing door sills and took advantage of it. They gave me a free rental car for the day and by the evening I had my blue door sills:

I soon did a google search for "Crossfire Forums" to see what else was out there and I found this community. One of the things I always found ugly on my Crossfire was the emblems on the front and rear of the car. I saw that there were people producing the emblems on the forums and contacted one of them. I met up with Dan today and he helped me to take off the existing emblems and replace them with the new ones. They look sharp!

To be Continued... (to due limitations of the message board).
