Default Crossfire Shopping

Hey guys,

We're looking for a new car for my fiancé. And she likes yellow cars, and she also like crossfires. So we're going to look for a yellow one, maybe silver instead if we don't have a lot of luck with yellow.

1) What should I know about crossfires in general? I had a SRT4 for 3 years, now I have a Charger SRT8 for 4 months or so. So I know cars, and I have no problem getting into details. What should I look for? (For example, the 2003 SRT4's had an open diff and lower HP, while the 2004s had a LSD and more HP).

2) How good are crossfires are in the snow? What am I looking at for snow tires? Are there many that will fit? She'll be in working in Michigan so winter drives will be horrible. Give it to me straight... if they're hopeless in the snow LET ME KNOW!!

3) How is the mileage? It's going to be a daily driver for her driving in Michigan... So mileage is pretty important.

Thanks!!!

Are you saying that they are no good in the snow STOCK? What if I get snow tires? Do many aftermarket wheels fit? I would get new rims and tires...

Thoughts? What are they like if you get snow tires & rims?

Winters in Connecticut aren't as bad as they used to, but I've gone two winters without snow tires. Of course, I'm an idiot and should have bought a spare set of 18" wheels and Blizzaks all around. I still managed to get to work most days - deep snow is a problem, though - the car sits low. That's when we break out the Nissan Frontier.

You will need a snow tire set up thats for sure. Many forum members here drive their cars in the snow, however deep snow will be a problem, As far as HP all (2004 -2007) Base and Limited Crossfires have a 3.2 liter 215 HP MB R170 engine and there a very few mods out there to produce more HP at reasonable expense. If you seek more power search for a new leftover or slightly used SRT6, 330 HP supercharged 3.2 liter MB AMG engine. Right now the SRT6 is the biggest bang for the buck, but they do not come in yellow.

Again, do you mean on stock all season tires? I have no problem getting snow wheels/tires. Are they better when they have snow tires?

Honestly, snow removal is pretty good up in the burbs of detroit. So deep snow probably isn't going to be common. I'm talking about after they've been cleared and they have that thin layer of snow/ice.

As long as a reasonable priced set of snow wheels/tires will fit.. I'm in. I have no problem swapping them out every year. I've been doing it for 4 years now.

Any more advice!?

Snow tires are always better with a rear wheel drive car. When I lived in NY we got hit with some bad snow storms, I have only driven my XFire once in the snow and then we moved to Virginia. It was driven on a cleared road with minimal ice and I had no problems. I can not tell how it will react on med/heavy ice buildup, that will depend on conditions and driver ability.

No snow for my XF. That's what the Jeeps are for.

I have had to drive my Crossfire in snow (but not deep) numerous times with the All-season Conit's It was a bit nerve-wracking when it was in the middle of the storm, but after the roads start to get cleared I had no problems. I expect even less trouble with my new Yokahamas. If you are used to swapping out snows you'll have no problem!

Like anything else, driving a rear wheel drive car in snow just means being careful...
