Holy...cow. Insurance.
Re: Holy...cow. Insurance.
If you are former military member (don't have to be retired) you really need to check out USAA. They have low rates AND they have something called a Subscribers Savings Account. Basically it is a rebate they usually give around this time a year. Mine last year was $458. That makes a big dent in your annual bill!
Another way to drop your annual payment is to lower your deductable. When I bought this car I had them quote me $100, $500 and $1,000 deuctible. A huge difference!
It also is rated #1 in the US by Business Week.

Re: Holy...cow. Insurance.
You guys are all light weights.
Thanks to the big insurance "crack down" on high performance cars back in the fall of 1969, I was quoted a price of $1,520 a year on my brand new AMX. Same price I would have paid for a Corvette.
I was 19 in Jan. of 1970 when I purchased my car.
My yearly take home pay back then was around $4,800.
Since I paid cash for my car, I was able to drop the collision coverage, and that brought my total insurance bill down to $1,160 a year.
I guess that's why they say, "You've got to pay to play."

In fact I pay more for my 2003 NEON SXT... Go figure!

They are very different (rebates and dividends), mutual companies like State Farm and I think Progressive can offer a dividend. GEICO and Allstate for instance are publicly held (stock) companies and do not offer dividends. A rebate is illegal. You can not offer someone a policy or parts of a policy and then refund (rebate) them premium. The bottom line in this entire discussion folks as follows.
Talk to your agent at least once every 6 months and make sure you are getting all the discounts you are entitled to.
If you are not happy with your rate, shop it but remember any body can give you a quote, ask for hard numbers.
There are many variables that make up a rate, understand that you may not be entitled to the rate your best friend has for many reasons nor he your rate.

Re: Holy...cow. Insurance.
I have USAA for the last 8 yrs, good service...and good price...never had any problems..and you can do everything online...and dividends
for the Xfire is $194.60 for 6 months...Total 3 Cars $683.99 for 6 months...
Having all of your insurance with 1 company will also save you money...

Just kidding, but there has got to be some other answer for this.

Hi AimeeJ!
I bought our 2006 Xfire LTD just this December (2007). Contacted my agent. I'm 46, the wife is just a tad younger than I am (by four months). We have a "link" policy where we have one policy that covers cars and the home. We own 3 cars (the Xfire, an '01 Dodge Ram 3500 dually p/u, diesel, and a 1997 Cavalier we're going to gift to our 18-year old son this month. Neither of us has had a moving violation in more than two decades. We pay $63 a month for comprehensive (300k cap, 100k/injury). Farmer's Insurance.
Shop around. As long as you don't have "incidents" you should be able to get a better price than what you are paying now.

Re: Holy...cow. Insurance.
After just buying this car, and being 21, my insurance only went up $40. I previously owned a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 V8. I'm under $400. I found it odd and I asked if they viewed this car as a sports car, the answer was "NO". I was thinking there would be no way for them to not view it as a sports car. 2 seats + Powerful Engine = sports car to me. I have State Farm btw.
