I saw a Nismo 350Z yesterday at a Nissan dealership and the new Infiniti G37 Coupe at an Infiniti dealership and both are very nice cars. But both can't beat the true market pricing of a Crossfire.

It's a all a matter of taste. The 350Z is a dime a dozen car - I see so many on the road that they don't rate a second glance. But at least its not a total clone car.

I like driving something that is unique and turns heads, even in SO CAL. Plus I get the added satisfaction of dusting the 350Z.

Those with the SRT-6 get the added bonus of dusting the 350Z. Those with the base and limited models not so much. I love the uniqueness of the XFire as well. When I went car shopping I wanted something that stood out but was just as attractive as a Z. When I found the XFire I knew it was perfect match for my criteria. And I know this for sure... when I pull up behind or next to a 350Z at a light, I just can't help the feeling people are staring at my car more so than the Z. There are so many Zs, G35s, etc... out there, I hardly ever see another XFire on the road.

A 350Z wouldn't interest me in the slightest plus they're everywhere. Something about it's pinched rear is a real turnoff...

Now the G35 and G37 are really nice; I almost bought an '05 G35 coupe before I got my SRT-6. The ride and feel are so refined with lots of power too. I didn't buy it because this one's clutch was coming up due for a replacement. That was a red flag to me since the car had less than 30K miles.

Even the Limited Crossfire is able to run side by side with the 285 hp automatic 350Z, so don't put down the normally aspirated version, and stop reading those silly car magazines. they are all subsidized by the largest car manufactures just to hype their product lines.

As for a no brainer, the 350Z is incredibly uncomfortable with zero headroom, and usually cost $35k new. And the Crossfire is only $21K new and it comes with a lifetime warrantee on drive line, Kinda a duh answer!

I honestly did not know a Limited XFire could run side by side with an automatic 350Z. Are you sure of this? I suppose I could always go Z hunting and find out for myself.

The Z is ugly. I hate the tail lights. It looks like they didn't really know what they wanted it to look like. In a time of retro designs being so hot, why they didn't make the design more true to the original (gorgeous) 240Z is beyond me.

Yes it will hold its own along side the stock autos. as long as you are running a 6 speed. I've done it a couple times from a stop light, but you have to be very fast on the shifter and have the clutch loaded with TC off. I haven't tried dropping the clutch yet, only because I really don't feel like installing a new clutch in 6 months. Good luck finding an auto that's not modded.

If you cant find a Z, try the 350 Altima, you won't walk away from them but you can hold them off too. I think it's mostly due to their weight, not power.

I thought I was the only one that did not swoon over the styling of the Z. The car just looks to thick and chunky to me with that bulldozer front bumper and little cabin roofline that reminds me of a pimple in profile. And that roofline slopes way to long to the back end. Must have been copied from a ski ramp. I think the back end is kind of nice though. If you put a Z and a Crossfire together and asked which one was the follow on to the original 240Z I would have picked the Crossfire if I didn't know better.

The only car more common than a Z in San Diego is the G35. The only thing in San Diego more common than a G35 is a toaster. I'll maybe see one other Crossfire a month in San Diego and it's probably one of the same 2 or 3 that are out here.

I'm going to post some new pics of my car in the park with its newly CORRECTLY installed Startech front and rear spoiler. Then I will post pics of the ugly as *** Z car so we can all laugh at it.

Talking Re: 350z better than xfi?

I looked at the 350... is it me or do the handles look like they should open a fridge ?

Everyone (outside XF owners) goes on about how powerful the 350Z is, how fast the TT is, how the s2000 handles better...

The XF is the complete package... handles great, is fast enough for road driving, looks fantastic and is individual.

I am always reminded of my Ferrari racing days - I was under track tuition for my race license and was told that my instructor could whip me round the track in his old ford mondeo...

So I challenged him, thinking I would whoop his A$$!!!

Sure enough, I never saw him in my mirror ! because he was in front... ALL the time...

Speed is nothing without ability and he proved that a smooth, fast line with talent can whip any supercar.

Exactly, isn't it strange when people see a supposedly slower car out performing more exotic machinery, the questions that get asked are along the lines of 'is it chipped?', 'what engine is he running?' etc. The assumption never seems to be that the guy just knows how to drive the thing better than the guy with the 'faster' car.

I drove many, many cars before I bought my Crossfire. Among those I tested was a Z. It did not impress me in the least. I admit it had some power, but nothing about that car made me want to buy it. I drove the Crossfire the later that same day and fell in love. Maybe it's not as fast as a Z, but I didn't buy my car to blow others off the road (although it does a nice job of that against most). The Crossfire is a unique car, as many have pointed out, but it just feels so nice to drive. I was about one block into my test drive when I knew I had found my car.

New pilots ask how fast does a plane fly. Old time pilots ask how well does a plane fly. Old time pilots would appreciate the Crossfire.

I don't think the Z coupe has horrible looks, I just don't find it attractive. "Thy Hideousness Known as the Z Convertible With the Top Up" is another matter. Ever wonder why you only see them with the top down?

Hmmm.
I like the 350z roadster (though not as much as the SRT6). Lots of mods available, reliability, etc.
I wanted to drive one when I was looking for a roadster. There's only 1 Nissan dealership around here, and I looked online and they had one. I called to tell them I would be coming by the next evening and I would like to test drive it.
The salesman said that it was in the showroom and they didn't want to get it out. That was it for me.
Drove a SRT6 a couple of days later and was sold.

The Zs didn't raise my interest much at all so I really didn't spend any time researching them when car shopping. My comments are just based on the appearance of the Zs. So...I think the Z convertible looks nice with the top down but top up is just the opposite.

The Z is a good car for what it is. In many ways it is an excellent sports car. But it will never be a great sports car. It just doesn't have the cutting edge performance or styling to elevate it above the competition. It's a B+ grade sports car needing to make an A to stand out.

In my opinion the Z is destined to just fade away. 10s of thousands have been built and that's good for Nissan. But the mass marketing of them just makes them another Z on the road. They will be used, abused and then replaced. Remember the fox platform Mustangs from '78 - '93 or so? Lots and lots of them were sold. Only see a few today and those are looking pretty beat up. They have turned into just another old car on the street. Same thing is beginning to happen with the last generation of Mustangs. Lots of them are still about but they have been completely eclipsed by the current Mustangs. Eventually another Z car will come along and push the current Z aside. At least we don't have to worry about a Crossfire successor anytime soon.

Very true. I've been thinking about that too.
Like Vettes for instance. Most every Vette redesign blows away the previous generation.
