350z better than xfi?
Re: 350z better than xfi?
Crossfire Coupe = Classic.
In my opinion, when I look at the Crossfire, I see a racy fastback, wide rear fenders, and a relatively long bonnet - common elements with one of the greatest grand-touring cars in history:
E-Type Jaguar!
I think the 350Z is a great car, technically speaking. It has a carbon fiber driveshaft, and aluminum suspension, etc. However, in my opinion, the best looking Z car was the original 240z - extraordinary. As far as looks go, the 350Z is still developing.

Apparently the crossfire beats it by 0.1" in hiproom and legroom, but in headroom and shoulder room, the Z gets around an inch extra. Granted, I'm not sure that's worth the extra 310 lbs.
From Yahoo Autos:
350z:
Headroom (Front) 38.2
Hiproom (Front) 53.2
Legroom (Front) 42.6
Shoulder Room (Front) 53.6
Crossfire:
Headroom (Front) 36.9
Hiproom (Front) 53.3
Legroom (Front) 42.7
Shoulder Room (Front) 52.7

you probably never sat in one have you?
that extra interior room you speak of, is not there. that may be apart of the trunk, as I think the Z has a larger storage area. There is zero headroom..

Once you get beyond the need to believe you have the fastest street racer around, you can enjoy the XFire for what it is. A high quality car. It just feels more substantial than most of the other sports cars. The car is rock solid.
And, the XFire is a heck of a price bargain, The styling sets it apart from the rest. The car just looks aggressive and the design sure isn't out of a cookie cutter mold.
It is unique now that production has stopped, and always will be. I like the idea that the design is the same for all XFire model years. Not many cars make classic design status after 20 years and the Xfire has as good a shot as any current offering.
You know, if you sit an XFire next to a same vintage MB SLK, it is readily apparent why the Daimler management team didn't stress the XFire in marketing Chryslers.

I'm new here (just got my xfire yesterday) and just left my 06 350z. I can tell you two things:
1. Xfire is better built with a more appealing interior
2. 350z is WAY faster...no contest.
I was able to take my 350z to the track and pull 13.8's consistantly all day and at texas world speedway had it ticking 153mph on the banking. I can't see my xfire doing either of those things. But, when I get into the car for my drive to work tomorrow morning, I'll be welcomed by a quieter ride and nicer interior than the 350.
BTW, as far as handling, it's a tossup.

Re: 350z better than xfi?
I've owed the 350Z. Extremely stiff ride. Interior not as refined. Sound system is terrible, even with the upgraded Bose. Definetly quicker than the base Crossfire. Not as appealing over all though. I got past whos got the bigger d**ck, I mean faster car thiing a long time ago. Both cars will get you on the expressway fast enough. I perfer the Crossfire over all. Feels like a much better built car.
Re: 350z better than xfi?
well all i know is....
I had 2 Japs pull up beside me in a 350Z and they were hounding me
so i gave him / them the go ahead and let them kick down first..
then i let loose all kinda of a Furious enviornment on them ..
i like pulled like 6 cars maybe more
they never caught up so i slowed down they were like wow WTF ... hehe
the 350 Z won't run with a SRT-6 that is for sure..

not stock. twin turbo one though, and the srt-6 becomes a speck in the rear view.

If you want to put a power adder on a 350 the right way, you'd need to switch to forged internals, lower compression pistons, a different fuel management system, and etc. By then you'd have spent enough money for two SRT6s! So, SRT6 wins that one in my book. Isn't bench racing fun?
any way, it doesn't matter, a nissan is much more reliable and a much more practical car. good luck getting parts for your srt-6 in 10 years. yeah, sure you probably paid $5k or so less for your rare edition car, but wait till you can't find anymore of the ancient mercedes parts. plus, oil and tires for the crossfires are twice the cost as for the Z. you should know; you had an Infiniti.
