Crossfire Key buying issue...please help.
Crossfire Key buying issue...please help.
i have only one key for my '04 crossfire. i was looking at keys online that sell for about $45 (FC C ID: KR55, uncut key). when i call the dealership and asked them how much is it to program and cut the key they told me they cannot cut the key or program it because the key has to be shipped from Germany according to my VIN#.
how can i buy this key online and make it work?
thank you.

I just went through all this. You must get a key through the dealer. It has a RFID device inside and must be matched to the VIN number. The remote fob portion can be programmed easily by yourself or have the dealer do it. The great news is the prices for these have come down and I paid $65 for mine at a local Chrysler dealer. It works perfect.

wow this is nuts. i just talked to few dealerships and they all told me a different story until i called the last one and they said the key is only $50 ready to go (cut and programmed). Other dealerships wanted $200 for it with programming. i'm little confused by their story but i'll just order one for $50.

If you need to program the remote:
Aim the transmitter eye at the vehicle and briefly press either the lock or unlock button twice. Within 30 seconds insert the key into the ignition and turn to the ON/RUN position (do not start). The remote should now work.

It will need to be ordered.
Programming the remote is easy.
The blade must be ordered to fit.
Also the key has an rfid in it that need to match the ignition. The dealer needs to order it by Vin #.
If the rfid does not match the cars ignition it will start run for two seconds and shut off.
And no, an rfid cant be reprogrammed.
Hope this helps...
I got one off ebay and learned the hard way.
Also it is just about impossible to disassemble the key fob without destroying it.

The keys are laser cut and shipped from germany. My employee price is $115 I believe customer price is $200 +/-, and it does need to be programmed. You can program it yourself, but I don't remember how. I will look it up in our manuals and post though.
