Never call it an SLK again! Required reading for every owner.
Re: Never call it an SLK again! Required reading for every owner.
Its nice to come across posts every once in a while that everyone can relate to and find interesting/helpful. This is one of those. From everything I read I actually believed the Xfire was a near twin to the SLK... call me ignorant! This really clears up all the misinformation out there on this topic.

Regarding Maxwell's
"I wonder what a Lear frame seat is and how does it differ from anything else?"
Lear is a company who manufactures automotive interiors (car seats).

Confirms what I'd learned from the Karmann website; they really had a crucial role in development of this car as well as actually producing them !
Karmann does have a new factory here in the US producing top assemblies for the Sebring and Pontiac G6. Maybe an independent Chrysler could use them to get the Firepower into production quickly and efficiently ! I hear the new plant is capable of low volume full body production...

Due to the additional weight of the supercharger the rear is lighter. So that's the reason why this ugly wing sits on the SRT6.

Interesting article, I don't really care about my car being an SLK but the article still shows the car is a Mercedes.
39% of the 1,000's of parts that make up a car is misleading since the engine and transmission heavily weigh on what makes a car.
Anyway thanks for the article interesting.
