Another Grille Option - Maybe
Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
TRexbillet replied and they weren't interested in attempting a different Crossfire design. I asked them if they knew of anyone who might be.
I also contacted three other fabricators to see if they could make one for us. I will post when I get replies from them.
I found a company that sells many styles of mesh, tools, and supplies needed to make your own custom grille... If we can't find someone to make one for us, perhaps that is an option. I'm going to go home tonight and do some more research into how difficult it would be to do that (anyone have any thoughts). They offer a pack of samples of the various meshes and supplies that you can purchase for $5 (comes with a $5 discount coupon for future purchases) to see what you'd be getting. If no one comes through with a pre-made one, I'm going to order the samples and see how they look. If anyone is interested in pursuing this immediately, the site is: www.customcargrills.com. The pictures they have online look okay to me, but it's hard to really tell.

Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
Customcargrills.com didn't want to try a crossfire, as they don't really do custom fabrication of grills (strangely enough, given the name of the company), but he recommended another place to try. They look promising in that they list custom fabrication on their site as something that they do. Contacting them today.
Still waiting on a response from another grill place.
Someone's going to make a grill whether the like it or not! lol.

Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
Okay, so I found a company that will make one, but they want a firm order for 100 grilles before they will produce one. I contacted a company that sells custom grilles but doesn't make them to see if they would be interested in ordering the 100 grilles and selling them from their website (with, perhaps some discount for us, if we do the legwork with the fabricator). I explained that we have many who are interested and that most of us Crossfire owners are not put off by things like practicality and rationality and if there's a pretty part for our car, we'll buy it. The rep I spoke to is going to talk to his boss about it and get back to me. The company that would do the fabricating estimated the cost of the grilles for a run of 100 to be somewhere between 400 and 500 each. The ones they have on their site appear to be extremely well made and that price range is in line with the ones that I've seen sold by their distributors.
So the question is... if I can broker a deal to make a grille similar to this:
http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/C...Speedster/2143
available for somewhere between $400 and $500, would any of us actually buy it? If so, I'll stay on top of it and try to get it done.

Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
I always felt the Speedster grille was set back too far and looks odd behind the Chrysler wing emblem. Other members made the same point about a year ago when CTD was considering a mesh grille. We understand that making the grille flush with its OEM configuration is not easy, and that's probably why no one has been able to come up with a satisfactory prototype yet. So, speaking personally, I would not be interested in the Speedster grille; sorry.

I can't commit $500 bucks to something I haven't seen.
That's just me though.

Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
$400 - $500 seems kind of expensive for just sticking a grill behind the frame of a bumper. sounds like an easy application to me. i actually did a mesh grill application identical to the speedster grill. the mesh was not as good of a quality so i removed it. the price seems high to me because there won't be as much fabrication as the CTD grill and their about the same price. i would consider that price if it was a 3 piece. thats my 2 cents. i hope i'm not alone on this one.
Re: Another Grille Option - Maybe
brhertel and others with black Crossfires,
I posted a file called "new look for less" file sometime back. It took about 1 hour and $15 to get the new look.
The grey grill is now black, the silver bars are now chrome and the grey license plate bracket is now black (mounted when I bought it). You might also notice the Crossfire logo replacing the Chrysler badge thanks to Andrew.
Looks even better in person. What I like most is that I get a lot of comments on how it looks like it came that way from the factory. The black grill sort of fades out and the chrome strips look like they are "floating" in the grill cavity.

What you use for the chrome trim on the grill?
Thanks.

Uhhh . . . Like you just asked a question about a post that is seven years old. Don't hold your breath waiting for a response . . .
