06xfire1,

There's not even a menu choice once attached to the dealer's computer to change the alarm setting to The Netherlands. I know, I was right with the tech when he was trying it.

Wow! It has been a while since I saw this thread. I did not realize that the "cricket on crack" & and chirping/beeping alarm was still such an issue. I'll look under my hood and see if I can find some numbers for you.

Cool Re: Factory Alarm

I will also check with my Tech and see if this is truly the problem, and if it is I am going to have mine replaced.

See my posts in the following thread about a simple cheap mod that can give you a door lock/unlock alert tone (not the horn honking!). I hope to get instructions and some pics on the forum in the near future. I'm kind of new to posting on here, so be patient. I've been having a few problems figuring out how to do attachments, etc. and need to make sure the instructions are simple and correct?

To answer the first question in this thread, yes the factory system is a true alarm. It has keyless entry, anti-theft, and an audible and visual alert system. This is what makes a "alarm" complete. Otherwise it is just an anti-theft that has starter disable, or just a keyless entry system.

I have been very interested in the chirp thing along with everybody posting questions here. I don't have time to open the cowl just to look at the siren, so I will have my buddy that owns a body shop order both part numbers for me. When I get them, I will try them both, see what the factory one is, let everybody here know the results, and send back the other siren. SO, this should put an END to this topic with a definitive answer.

I'm looking forward to this answer as well. I want the armed beep also. I just don't want to add a part that is not factory.

I'm at a dealer now and have discovered there are 2 siren model numbers. The original number is 5114340AA which came from the factory. The new number is 5124443AA which is the same as mentioned above that has a chirp according to BLKFIN.

***The answer is in the post. The part number 5124443AA as mentioned in my post will make the alarm chirp when armed and dissarmed. It is the latest siren model and it is what makes the alarm chirp****

I understand that is the case. I just returned from my dealer here in Oklahoma City and they are telling me that the new part is exactly like the previous part and will not make the system chirp upon locking the doors. They also looked the part number up in their database and said there is no indication that changing the part will affect a change. They hooked my car to a computer and could not find a place to program the chirp feature into the alarm. I also called Huffines Chrysler in Plano, TX and they told me it had to be done in the computer and they also said there was no difference in the two parts.

I am not doubting your information. The problem is getting the dealers service people to understand what the differences are in the two sirens.

Also, I was told there was no TSB or any other information in regards to the locking chirp sound.

BLKFIN,

Thanks for the info. Like Stealth, I am not questioning you, but would you be up to making a video/sound clip of this?

Thanks!

I wish I could guys, but the siren was replaced on my base coupe that I sold last year. I have since bought my SRT6 and have not taken the siren in to be replaced. I am going to try and take it to the dealership soon as the "hardcore" modding is about to begin and the rest of my warranty will "go out the window". I will keep you posted.

I can tell you that it was a very soft chirp, like you would find on a high end car. It is not the horn honking and it is just loud enough to be heard and not disturb the neighbors late at night. The siren....as you all... know can wake the dead if it is set off!!!
