Question H7 HID Upgrade

So I bought an HID kit and put it in...really easy install and the lights look great... Problem is when I'm listening to an FM station and the lights are on, I get no reception. Why Why Why??? I turn the lights off and signal come back...Any one else had this issue or is my crossfire retarded?

I have not heard of that issue before. I'll do some checking around for you.

I do have NAV, ...when i turn the headlights on the ballast put out a slight buzz its really high pitch, and maybe it has something to do with the metal ballast touching the metal, they are mounted on the side of the wheel well... I'm going to insulate them today and see if that helps...

It could be a negative ground loop interference problem, try re-grounding the ballast to a different location. It might help.

Well...it was a plug and play system. Just goes right into the stock plug... Can't figure out why so much RFI... i put some chokes on the cables but didn't really help...guess i'll just listen to the cd player.

It sounds like the ballasts aren't shielded or grounded properly and are feeding noise back into your electrical system. If you think it makes the radio sound bad you probably don't want to look at your +12v supply with an oscilloscope!

Which kit did you get?

I have the McCullough kit and have no problems with noise.
Sounds like it is a grounding problem.
Does the kit have a separate ground wire?
Are the bulbs hooked up + and - correctly?

Red face Re: H7 HID Upgrade

Everything seems to be hooked up properly, I tested the hot lead and + and - are correct. I tryed putting a couple of RFI Filters on the wires but made minimal difference. I emailed the company and they said call them sunday afternoon to talk to Tech Support. I'll shoot some pics out. The brand is ??? Doesn't say, its a cheap brand so I'm gonna probably fork out the money for some decent ones. Any Ideas on the brand I should go with? I have the 10,000k ones and there REALLY BLUE, I'll probably drop down to 8,000k. I just don't want to spend more than $300 on light bulbs...seems silly.

8,000k is going to be really blue as well. The best light output will come from a 4,700k - 5,000k kit. Search around a bit and you will find several discussions on the subject.
