Default Opinions, please?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, and I actually don't own a Crossfire (YET!), but I am in the market for a new car and a Crossfire is what I've really had my heart set on for a long time. Finally getting enough $ together, and found a place locally that can get them. So far though I've only seen pictures and a couple here and there driving around. Haven't had a chance to really look at one yet. Just thought some advice and opinions from those who drive them everyday might be helpful. I guess my main concern is room - being that my hubby is kind of a big build, and I know many sports cars can be pretty tight. I've also read that these cars aren't very good for taller people, as in lacking headroom. What do you think?
Also, what kind of problems have any of you had out of your Crossfires? And most of all - do you think I should get one??

Thanks for all your help. I hope to be joining your ranks soon...

I'm 6 feet tall, 225 lbs and fit fine in the XFire. I don't think it would be too comfortable for anyone taller than 6'2". The best thing to do is to test drive one. The Xfire is an awesome car. I have a SRT6 coupe... Pros: Performance, Handling, Looks, Cons: Cup holder (only 1 and could have been designed better) and rear visibility (can be fixed by buying mirrors that can be stuck to the rear view mirrors to eliminate blind spots).

Are you thinking about getting the SRT6?

Also, make sure you understand the pricing on this car. If you're working with a dealer, make sure you don't pay more than 16K for a base to 30K for an SRT 2005. These are the limits so the real price should be somewhere in between depending on a coupe or a roadster. Check e-bay for some comps.

Where are you located (sometimes we can help you find one at a good deal)?
Looking for a coupe, roadster, SRT6 coupe, SRT6 roadster?
Is it going to be a daily driver?

I am 6'2" ~ 225 pounds w/size 14 shoes. Roadsters have a little more headroom than the coupes. The Crossfires are more comfortable to me than the s2000s, corvettes, etc.

They are great cars. I don't think they have any more problems/issues than other vehicles.

Right now you can get some screamin' deals on Crossfires.

I recommend them, just make sure it is exactly what you want.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Here's a great deal, but it has less than 5 hour to go.

First of all, check these forums for places that have them... if you save $5,000 on the price compared to locally and have it shipped for $500 or $1,000...
you still win.

I've had nothing but good times in this car. I'm not a really tall guy, but others here are and have given you their 'limits'.

If you have the budget for an SRT6... by all means get one... they are wonderful cars.

Does your climate permit the enjoyment of a roadster? You can probably find just about any color that was produced in an overstock somewhere... make the dealer do a search for you if you can't find one here.

Here's a good place to get a feel for the prices on used models. Clicky

EDIT: from another thread ... click here for the thread
I noticed the other day that they have an Aero Blue SRT6 roadster w/ 5,700 miles on it for $32,998 (which is what mine was priced at).

Go ahead and buy one. You will regret it if you don't get one.

Wow, thanks so much for all the input. Your advice is well appreciated, and feel free to keep it coming. I am very interested in the SRT6 - price being the main factor though. I live near Cape Girardeau, MO - and haven't found a single lot nearby that has one I could even look at. A dealer in Illinois about an hour away said he frequently gets them as lease program cars that have been leased out to corporations for a year and then he sells them. We are supposed to go over there Friday - his wife just happens to drive one so he's gonna let us take a look at hers and hopefully go for a ride in it.
And yes, it will be an everyday driver. Right now I'm driving a '78 Chevy Nova that is really seen its better days. I like it because it's different - you don't see one on every corner - which is one thing about the Crossfire that really attracted me. I need a new car, and I abhor family cars. I wanted something sporty, yet practical enough that I could drive every day and take on trips.
Thanks again for all the help. I'll be sure to let you guys know what happens when I actually get to try one out on Friday.

Buy the roadster and then you don't have to worry about blind spots and how tall you are. Seriously , it's a great car, a steal of a deal and a top of the line car that no one knows about, except us.

My Fiancé has wanted one since she first saw one 2 years ago, and we bought our SRT6 last month - I don't get much drive seat time in it...but she has been through the family car gig, and was driving a lifted full size Blazer before this because it was different - so go drive it and enjoy...it will probably grow on you more once you have seen it from the inside out!

You do know there is a NEW Aero Blue SRT-6 Coupe at one of the St. Louis Chrysler dealers don't you?

Tiffany,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get one!!! I felt the same way before I bought my Xfire. I didn't even know of this forum till a few days after my purchase. I loved the look and style when they first came out then broke down and got one. I have always owned sports cars (300ZX, Celica Twin Turbo, Eclipse GTS, and Firebird WS6) but to be honest none as fun as this car... well except maybe the 300 HAHA (loved that car).
Full of room inside too - I'm 5'9 230 lbs body builder and I fit nicely. I was very impressed with the room on the interior, so your husband should have nothing to worry about.

Best part is the people here on this site are very knowledgeable and have helped me out a ton! You will absolutely love this car, and wont know what you have bought till you "drive it like you stole it" (had to steal that one 04Fire, sorry).

Good luck with you purchase!

Tiffany,

You couldn't have asked a better group of car nuts.
I have to agree with everyone else... BUY ONE!

As for you maximussquid... I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first to say that sooo... steal on!

TiffanyRose - I was thinking about my recent purchase of the SRT6.
I looked at and researched a lot of vehicles.
Most vehicles I liked, my wife didn't. The s2000 and the SRT6 were 2 that we could agree on.

We test drove one of each a day apart. The s2000 was nice, but the SRT6 blew it away. Plus my wife can't drive a stick (well, she can - sort of, but it isn't pretty ). I wanted to get something that we could both enjoy and drive.

The SRT6 was the perfect fit for us. It has plenty of power for me, and it is 'pretty and zippy' (according to my wife) for her.

Anyways, just wanted to throw in some more info for you.

Just a thought but you might try Ebay before you buy. You might find a dealer close by on there and also get an idea what a fair deal might be, in your area. You may not want to bid but can see what is available and where. A lot of dealers advertise on line. Good luck, you will love the car !!! It becomes an obsession.
