Default Base Vs. Limited Gas Mileage

On Chrysler website it says,
Fuel Economy [mpg] - Highway 25 21
That's 25 for the base, and 21 for the limited coupe. That's the only difference in all the spec from base to limited.
I used this link: http://www-5.chrysler.com/vehsuite/VehicleCompare.jsp
And compared coupe to limited coupe. Is this true?

I've spent a few minutes trying to compare the two - but it's too much like hard work - you should post a link further down the website path.
You may lose some gas mileage due to the extra weight of the Limited compared to the Base.
I wouldn't expect 4 mpg though - that's approx. 20%.

stick vs automatic ? that seems like the only difference that could make that much of a difference.

no, both the transmissions were set to auto. every number was exactly the same except the highway gas mileage. thought there was no difference in the base vs. limited except the year, the 05' is the limited right.

Maybe we should have the member (base and limited owners) post actual mileage. We are a better source than DC.

I have an '04 which is the same as the '05 limited. I get about 21 mpg around town and between 28 and 30 on the highway with a autostick trans. I think the sticker that came with the car said 21 city and 26 hwy.

I get about ~25+ mpg combination city/highway per tank. I'll fill my tank up before I leave to go home and refill again (stopping when the pump clicks) and figure it out. My trip will be totally highway and about 200 miles so it should give us a good estimate.

I refilled my '04 yesterday after a week or so of half city and half freeway driving. Got 24.01 mpg.

I drive a manual trans Limited and I get 200-220 miles on 10 gallons of 91 octane while driving in the city, with alot of stop and go traffic.
My next test will be done using 87 octane and 10 gallons, we'll see what happens, I'm predicting I'll get about 185-190 miles with the cheap stuff.

Whoa, don't use that, there's more then quality in the different octane. Octane ratings are ratings used to represent the anti-knock performance of petroleum-based fuels.

Yeah I know I'm sinning. Lol.
The fuel management on this car is very well designed, so it can easily run the 87 without problems. One reason that I run 87 without any pinging is mostly due to the engine cooling system on this engine. It has reverse flow heads and oil piston squirters, both systems allow the removal of excessive heat build up in the piston and cylinder area, and this reduces the heat in the fuel air charge and keeps it from ignition before spark plugs can fire. The ECU adjust by moving the timing later, and with the benefit of the duel plugs, it can fire the air fuel charge multiple times way past TDC, so it burns closer to BDC. This reduces output power, but it's not hurting the engine. It's all in control.

The base model comes only with standard six speed transmission manual low back seats, that means that the seat back has a separate head rest. The limited you have the choice of the auto stick or standard. Other than a few bells and whistles they are the same car. LTD has leather high back seat, means back and head rest is all in one, power seats w/heaters, fog lights, Infinity radio and that wonderful cup holder plus a few silver trim areas, strakes and windshield surround.

It must be the difference from auto stick to standard transmission.

the 21 mpg listed for the limited coupe w/ manual trans is a typographical error. it should state 25 mpg. all manual transmission crossfires are rated at 17 cty/25 hwy. autostick crossfires have epa estimated fuel economies of 21 cty/28 hwy. srt-6 is rated at 17/25.

um where'd did you get that? i have the base, and i have a autostick, my headrest is attached to my chair (its all one piece), mine is leather, dual power seats, fogs, and infinity, and cupholder. everything you mentioned is standard on both base and limited.

Really, I have a 2005 Base Roadster that I purchased new in June of '05 and have none of the items you mentioned and they were not available as options on my car plus it only came in black with dark slate grey cloth interior and is sometimes referred to as the Black Beauty. The leather and other items you mentioned were all standard on the 2005 Limited version. I had the intentions of purchasing a Limited Roadster but the dealer did not have one on the lot at the time and he really was dealing on the Base version. I do know there was another version that may have been a 2006 special edition but am unsure what colors it was offered in. I believe red and black but no fog lights and a black windshield surround.

Sorry but the car is in my winter storage garage, maybe I'll go over tomorrow for a visit and take some pictures. It is spotless and doesn't get driven in the snow and we really got hit this last week. We've had it 2 summers now and it only has 7,600 miles on it. It gets used slightly more than most peoples exercise bikes.

Rather than the one piece seat back of the limited it has an adjustable headrest.

It is standard 6 speed and instead of a cup holder there is a small black insert cup good for holding a cell phone or two but it is still more functional than the cup holder.

It is my opinion that real sports cars have three pedals, so even if I they would have had a Limited on the lot it would have had to be a standard transmission.

Pickup trucks are red and tractors are green.
Sports cars have three pedals.
