That's because the base model XF comes with cloth seats, black only, and does not include some of the features the Limited or the SRT6. Here's a link from one on sale on e-bay.

the base coupe doesn't have the following (compared to a limited):

- no cupholder
- no homelink
- no "crossfire" nameplated stainless steel door sill plates
- no storage net between both front seats
- no storage nets behind both front seats mounted on the bulkhead at the bottom
- no silver cigarette lighter
- no tire pressure monitor
- no aluminum rubber studded pedals
- no power seats
- different seats altogether with adjustable headrests
- no leather seats
- no heated seats
- no 6 speaker 240 watt infinity modulus radio (base just has a 4 speaker stereo with black ***** and no amplifier)
- no fog lights
- no silver trimmed speaker grilles
- no satin silver finish exterior windshield frame, side fender vents and door handles (all black on base)
- no chrome finish on exhaust pipe tips
- no automatic transmission option
- no color option other than black clearcoat
- no interior color option other than black cloth
- no gas strut on glovebox door (this strut is on the limited creates a slow opening door rather than just dropping open)
- no heated exterior mirrors
- no cabin air filtration system (base just has a simple recirculation feature)
- no floormats
- no touring gear
- no painted engine cover

Romio,
Since yours is a 2004, it is the only model they made that year. In 2005, they came out with the base, limited, and SRT6. Your 2004 is basically the same as a 2005 limited, not a base model.

I have a base 2005 and my best all highway mileage was 28 mpg. Day to day driving gets around 23. I wish I can get 30+ like everyone else.

Look at my gallery. I have the exact Base seat in leather (which came from an SLK). I believe it is mfg by Recaro. Base seat is exact same seat in black cloth (which I took out and replaced with two tone SLK seat).

your saying your base seats are adjustable, but i thought everyone else said the LTD has the adjustable? either way they are completely different then mine, i'm pretty sure i have the same seats as the limited. but i see your base seats has the lumbar support adjustment, and mines doesn't.

Where did you get the SLK seats? Are they just the leather skins or did you replace the entire seat? The one thing I really wanted in the XF was leather seats but the deal on the Base model was too good to pass up at the time. I have looked into an aftermarket company that makes a high quality product but if I could get actual SLK leather skins that would be in better keeping with the car. Your seats are what I had in mind that my base seats should look like in leather. The seats are firm but comfortable and quite supportive. I had actually considered getting Recaro after market seats so I wouldn't change the factory originals.

What were the wiring pictures in your gallery?

Ok so the mileage was tracked today and for straight highway for about 200 miles I got 27.7 mpg going about an average of 75-80 mph over the course of the trip on 93 octane. I also changed my oil a couple days prior so engine was running on clean Mobil 1 0w40.

I have a '04 with a manual but I don't think it matters too much when you're in the final gear.

Thumbs up Re: Base Vs. Limited Gas Mileage

In mixed driving I get anywhere from 20-23 mpg and on the freeway and anywhere from 28-33 mpg and I have the 6 spd.
