Give me a break with that trash, it's just a 6 cylinder, it's not a Cobra 427... hooah.
Have you heard of the term "post traumatic stress disorder".

"The SRT6 is still just a small six with a blower"... and that my brother is the bottom line... Oh but it is a two seater, what was I thinking, so was the SunBeam Tiger with a 289 V8. We park the two cars next to each other, and look everyone wants to hear the Tiger idle... "Oh no tell me it ain't so", you mean people love the sound of a V8 over the bad azz SRT6... and look at the little SunBeam burn those tires... oh but your right and how could I be so dumb to think people are really not impressed while they are setting next to you in that 500 HP Mustang...

Even Volkswagen had a hopped up small 4, but only Volkswagen folks gave it any attention, so wake up and smell the flowers. Hooah.

**And for aftermarket down the road, people still looking for the V8 under the hood, not a 6 cylinder...

Do yourself a favor and go trade your Crossfire in for a Mustang.

Hooah.

Hey dude, nice car, looks like you spend a lot of time with it. Keep it up and never mind the bad-mouthers who always try to belittle others likes and ideas oh and lets not forget the never ending call for a" DYNO".
Oh yeah... I've lost track ... who's brother can out run who's brother?

I promised myself I was going to stay out of this one, but Firebase, you sucked me in. Now you know I'm a big fan of "Muscle Cars" from the 60's and early 70's and I thought it was odd that you brought up the Sunbeam Tiger.
You're 100% correct, there's nothing quite like the "sound" of a small block V8 under the hood. And as much as I hate to admit it (because I'm not a Ford lover) those small block "Fords" are some of the better sounding ones out there. They make my Viper "sound" like a sweeper. Still thanks to the aftermarket, and "factory" performance parts offered by Ford at the time) you could build your "Tiger" into practically anything that you wanted. That's why, (for comparison sake) I choose only to talk about "Factory Stock" performance. That being said, here are some performance #'s from the Sept. 1967 issue of Road & Track magazine on the Sunbeam Tiger, compared to a Crossfire Limited 6 spd.

---------------------------------- Crossfire---------------------- Tiger ----------------
0-30 mph -------------------- 2.1 sec --------------------- 3.1 sec --------------
0-40 mph -------------------- 3.5 sec --------------------- 4.1 sec --------------
0-50 mph -------------------- 4.7 sec --------------------- 5.6 sec --------------
0-60 mph -------------------- 6.5 sec --------------------- 7.5 sec --------------
0-80 mph ------------------- 10.2 sec -------------------- 13.1 sec -------------
0-100 mph ------------------16.1 sec -------------------- 22.0 sec -------------

1/4 mile -------------------- 14.8 sec -------------------- 16.0 sec --------------

Hey, they don't call me "Mag Boy" for nothing.

In the Sunbeam's defense, all #'s from back then were done with really crappy tires. That car is capable of better even in factory trim, just with better rubber.

I still think claiming a V6 can't be fast is the dumbest comment I've ever seen on any car board.

Oh yeah, and just one more edit: The Sunbeam with the 289 from the factory had 200 hp. Even the Limited V6 has 215.

Didn't the Grand National have a v6 with a blower? And that was at a time the fastest production car on the planet at the time. LOL.

Not to mention the Acura NSX. A normally aspirated V6 with 290 HP and 224 Lb/Ft of torque.

Uh oh, sounds like we're going to meet after school, and I'm going to get my azz kicked. Come on Mr. Firebase, you know I was only having some fun with ya.

Blade, you're right, the tires weren't what they are now. But the H.P. rating system was completely different. Using today's rating system (that's been around since 1971) the Tiger would actually have only about 150 hp, maybe even less.
I wasn't knocking the Tiger, for years I searched for a decent one for a bargain price, and I never could find a nice one I could afford. But as I stated before, I never was very fond of anything with a Blue Oval on it, so I decided to stick with what I knew, and liked. (There were exceptions, real 2 seat Cobras, and the new mid engine GT's).
For the record, the Sunbeam stats I posted were from a stock Tiger with a 2 bl. carb, and they came from the factory with 2.88:1 gears also. So they never were what you would call "Dragsters". But as Firebase, oops, Mr. Firebase pointed out, they were tire smokers.
MAYAman you're right, if there ever was a giant Killer of a V6, it would have to be the Buick Grand Nationals. With a little "tweaking" they're Hemi Killers.

I would expect about as much from a man who voluntarily poses for a picture with George W. Bush and is proud of it.
