By the way, lets go on and forged about this stupid thread,...
What I really find funny is the fact that I had one my photos removed from the gallery by a forum moderator, It showed the bare torso of a beautiful younger lady covered with mud and you could barely see half of the side of her breast under her armpit. Nothing offensive IMO...In the background sat our beloved XF with the caption "IT EVEN LOOKS GOOD DIRTY".
The reason I bring this up, does anyone think the removal of my pic was justified ?? And should this charade (thread) have been stopped by a moderator?
My answer is NO to both. What do you think?

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
Well I am black, and that comment does offend me. The word "hood" shouldn't even come out of your mouth. That's not part of your vocabulary in your little wealthy world and you only used it in this case to degrade people that are less fortunate than you are. I own a crossfire and I have friends and relatives that live in the "Hood". I visit them often because I haven't forgotten where I came from. Therefore, while it is not likely that someone living in low income housing would own such a car, it makes sense, to most people that have sense, that anyone could be there visiting or handling any other business. Your comment was just to show the people in this forum that have the same racist views as you, that you're one of the "good ol boys". I'm with "Crzy Kat". If this is the type of forum we have here then you guys can shove it! If it's not, then more people should have stepped up to the plate and objected to that type of post.
Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
Wow - what a thread! This forum is about cars. But - cars mean different things to different people. Transportation to some may be a social statement to others. If we are all honest - to most of us, our Crossfires are a little of both to us. Depending on where you come from, you may lean a little more to one side or the other. I grew up in the neighborhoods you see on HBO's "The Wire". My car means a whole lot more to me than mere transportation. Of course it's a status symbol. Of course it makes a statement about style and taste. The sub-culture to which I belong (and always will, no matter where I live) places great value on style (clothes, cars, "urban bling") and that is just a fact.
If you grew up in the suburbs (in the county, as we would say in Baltimore) - your sub-culture is different. Not better, just different. Maybe you pay someone to come out every week and manicure your lawn. For some of us from the inner city - that's ridiculous, spending all that money on grass and bushes. Maybe your lawn is a statement to your neighborhood - you've arrived, you're successful. Maybe the sticker on your minivan that displays your alma mater is "suburban bling".
I don't take offense to what the original post said. The person is just commenting from his side of the fence what he sees and perceives on the other side of the fence. I might think it's shallow, bigoted or racist - but I'm on the other side of the fence - and I have lived long enough to know it's never good to toss rocks across the fence.
To those of you on the "county" side of the fence: Your "easy, affordable payment" may require great sacrifice and blood, sweat and tears for those of us on this side of the fence. When you tell me how to spend my hard-earned money based on your values - you offend me and mine. You are making a values judgment that is not welcome. Let us enjoy our Crossfire or any other expression of success (bling) in the way we so choose.
I realize the original post was just a comment on how cheap the car has become - at least I hope that was the intent - but it did come across the fence as a "rock". What we heard is, "My car has cheapened because one of "those people" have one." (I'm talking more socio-economic prejudice than racial bigotry).
My skin is thick, I carry the bruises of many a rock that has flown over the fence - yes, I guess I've placed myself in a position with this post to get hit a few more times. Whatever.
Enjoy your rides.

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
I wish people could get over themselves. "Da Hood" is part half the songs on Hit and Urban radio. It's part of all kinds of young cultural language. I don't get upset due to caucasians being called "hoosiers". Some of them are! The world is far to PC. Get over it and live your life without out trying to find controversy in everything. Can't we all just get along?
Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
Will I'm Puerto Rican and it doesn't offend me. PC people are ruining this country! Everything offends everybody. Grow a back bone. God Bless America, the one time home of the free but now home of the Whinny whinny cry babies.
And for the record I have no problem with the wealthier white members here saying "hood" I grew up in PT Barnum housing project in Bridgeport CT, one of the worst in the nation. my father was a marine and he made sure I stayed in check and got an education. Now they also are well off after 30 years of hard work and working for the US Government. I myself have not done poorly myself. But all because of hard work.
LOL at people from the hood who get offended at the word HOOD. If you truly were from the hood you would acknowledge that it sucks to live in a project and should aspire to get the F out of it. That's my stance and I don't regret it one bit.
Again, I'm a minority and don't feel offended. There are racists in all colors. Again, grow a back bone.

Making a statement that the word "hood" should never have come out of my mouth, is as ludicrous as me saying, "I better not ever hear you say Country Club".
You don't know my vocabulary, you don't know who my friends are, you don't know my financial position or status in life, and you certainly don't what my feelings are towards people less fortunate than myself.
I've only met a handful of people on this forum (in person) at a recent car show in Penn. If I gave them the impression I was a wealthy, prejudice, bigot, then I wish they would tell me. At least their opinion of me would be based on more than the use of one word, or my perception of a television news story.
By the way Kelvin, I haven't forgotten where I came from either, and it was East Akron, or as many who live there now call it, THE HOOD. I too visit there, but I suppose I'm lucky you don't live there, because obviously I wouldn't be welcome.
Charlotte, North Carolina huh...so much for southern hospitality.
Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
People are so easily offended today it's just crazy.
I grew up a military brat and I really was given the crap at school growing up. You've never experienced degrading, racist, offensive remarks until you are the new kid at school every 2 to 4 years.
One thing that I find funny through all this is that a people call other people names who simply value success (as they see it).
I for one am in a one bedroom apartment with my wife and we can't afford a house in the Bay Area because a 'cheap' home here is nearly a half million dollars.
So I opted to get the SRT6 which I had been drooling over for the last year or so.
I for one am going to have fun and enjoy life.
To take offense from name calling is silly (in my opinion)... and I have the right to say so... my last name "Krivohlavek" means literally "Crooked Head".

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
I don't post much but I do read alot of posts. When I read a post I NEVER read between the lines because you don't know what the person writing the post is thinking. I also NEVER make an assumption about the person because you don't know the person who is writing the post either. My suggestion is. He said he was sorry so you should forgive him.
Just a note is this racist? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101507/
Racism is two ways, just like an argument, there are two sides, both neither totally right nor totally wrong. You just got to get along meaning they both have to give a little.

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
My $0.02... This is a very good example of why America still has problem
children on all sides of the race/bigotry issue. People are too quick to
assume that a slight has been proffered, with no real proof. Until we, as
Americans, develop a little thicker skin, knock the chips off our shoulders
and get over ourselves, we'll never get past this.

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
I don't know why I still feel compelled to add to this thread but I must.
After a quick check on dictionary.com, other than being considered a slang term, used as an abbreviated form of "neighborhood" originating about 20 years ago within the African-American vernacular , the word "hood" is not referenced as derogatory, defamatory, disparaging, offensive, or racist.
In fact, neither is the word "ghetto" which has its roots in the segregated communities of European Jews.

Re: Crossfire meets the "hood"
I've figured it out... you guys forgot to put the apostrophe... what idiots... it should have been 'hood... that way the apostrophe takes the place of the "neighbor" part...
I think people need to lighten up a little... and if they don't like what they read just leave the thread... not everything on the internet is going to be PC...
