I feel so tame after reading this thread... 120 on CA freeways has been my personal best ...

been wanting to find a place to beat that ... I've been above 100 mph before in other cars, but in every case, felt at risk due to an aeroplaining effect ... one could feel the car rise and given the knowledge that the footprint of the tires was greatly diminished, the thought that 4 small points of contact was all one had was disconcerting ...

in the Crossfire, that simply is not the case ... the car sits down nicely and the control is highly positive ... I really would like to see what it's capable of ...

I made 130 + on 635 leaving dallas one night toying with some motorcycles. I have a convertable and the top was up. The ride was solid and impressively quiet. My girlfriend. Not so much.

LOL ... ditto MrsS anytime we exceed the posted limit ...

I had a contrasting experience with one passenger though ... the 83 yo grandmother of my youngest daughter-in-law ... she's a sweet little old lady (very little, actuallly) who said she'd like to go for a ride in the Crossfire so I obliged her ... we got on the freeway, but traffic was heavy enough I could not go too fast ... she expressed disappointment, saying she'd hoped we could really "zip it" ... taking a connecter ramp from my west-bound freeway, I went south on another and found traffic light enough we were quickly above 100 which I pointed out to her ... her response was that it was like being in an airplane ... she knew we were going fast, but she was short enough, she was unable to see the ground and therefore lacked perspective on the speed ... I've promised to get her a booster pillow for our next ride.

Great story steveS,
If you cannot find a booster maybe try kicking out the front windshield, dawning football helmets and red baron scarves. Might not look normal stopped at a red. But hey if your gonna take someone flying might as well dress for it eh?

Nice,

On the way to Vegas last month, my husband got our XF up to 120 before I was yelling at him. Then we came off a small hill and saw two cops on the side of the road, he went by at 100mph but the cop was nice and only gave his a 223.00 ticket for doing 95. Cop just don't understand our car.

I am a new owner and have had my XF for about 2 months. I had it up to 127 on Interstate 10 between LA and Phoenix. I had just purchased the car about 4 hours before and was driving it home. It felt very solid at that speed. I have a limited convertible and the noise level is quite a bit higher at 120+ then it is at a normal 75 - 90mph, but I know I could have gone 135+ if not for the fear of cops. And when I saw the highway patrol pull out from the median I just prayed that I could make it to the Arizona border before he caught up with me. I made it and hopefully am not wanted in the state of California.

Needless to say, a ticket at that speed is a felony so unless you live in Montana or are on a track somewhere it is tough to do it unless you know there are no cops around.

How do you calibrate it to 120, mine always kicks in at 55.

it is, but it's probably less funny for those of us who've experienced too much application of the wifebrake ...

My wife no longer uses verbal commands to control my right foot, she knows THAT won't do any good. She'll just quietly inform me that the next time I go that fast and/or take that turn at that speed that I'll have to be prepared for some projectile vomiting.
Simple, easy, effective.........
That's precisely why it is futile to speed with a wife in the car!

last night coming home from Lexington KY hit 145 and pushing 150. Those women brakes are interesting. I had one that I took up to 196 on my motorcycle and she loved it. Another one was screaming and pinching me as we accelerated through 160mph. My favorite though was accelerating through 100 from a stop light and she was screaming because the back of her shirt was coming up around her head hahaha I'm sure the cars behind me enjoyed the show

although I have owned many fast things, including bikes, I only take me up past 100....its my life, and I drive it, but I don't risk someone else's....I only play on roads I know aren't heavily traveled when I feel the urge for 100 plus...that's why my 0-158 was on a closed course...but each to their own....
