It is funny you have the same exact picture in your avatar as I have in mine. That is the picture I took of my car, I don't mind sharing but you can't drive my car.

I hit 150 a couple of times.Don't worry about a wreck. The coroner will be trying to find all our body parts to ID the body anyway.

155 on an undisclosed section of new highway in Cary...Hee Hee! But then I got a low tire pressure warning and when I checked the original tires had plugs in them...causing me to change tires and having them Nitro filled...hasn't been a problem since and I've hit that speed again several times, although it takes a good bit of road to acheive...NOTE TO NEW/USED OWNERS OF Crossfire's...have those old tires checked before attempting any land speed records...my original Conti's, three of which had multiple plugs were changed fro the Michelin PS 2's...great tires!

I got mine to 112 on a very short piece of road in a very short amount of time. At dusk, I wasn't sure if I was more concerned about running out of room or trying to dodge a deer. The car was smooth as silk and had a lot left to go. I had to hammer the brakes pretty good and was surprised at the amount of fade with the stock pads and rotors. I actually missed the turn I needed to make. Upgraded to Rotex shortly after but I haven't had the chance to get on them again. It will be interesting to see how they perform. I'm looking for the next opportunity to open 'er up again and will probably do it but the track sounds like a much better place drop the hammer. At least the wildlife is at bay there.

In my 04' limited 140 mph in the 05' SRT6 155 mph had alot more to give all you have to do is have the Governor removed from the ECU during a reflash and then the only limiter is Physics and the turns...

140 mph on I-55 driving from Peoria, IL to Chicago. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life. There's cops crawling all over that highway. But hey, didn't get caught. I had to do it once too. =)

I hit 100 almost every day. And I have pegged it in the day time prolly over 10 times. Going on Rt. 1 in Maryland I had it pinned for several miles

Ditto!
It's nice that we went to DST when we did. Now we can at least see the 4-legged, furry creatures from hell before they're standing in the road!

HDDP:

That photo in post #38 is excellent. It makes the car look great, convey's the speed and excitement of racing, the blurred background and the colors of the infield and the track. It's just outstanding.

Smile Re: How fast have you been in your Crossfire?

bought my 04 new and 45k miles later it continues to amaze me.

yes, i've done 130-140ish many times over the years but not so much any more.

i have a couple of questions for you experts:

1) at about 100, it seems to "squat" , get lower and a little tighter. is that the wind, the car or my imagination?

2) driving at speed in rains, i can feel the car adjusting to hydroplaning by keeping the nose pointed ahead. how does it do that?

Don't know if this applies but,
Today I'm getting on I-70 in St Charles MO. It's a long ramp, up hill and I see a slot in the traffic about halfway up. I get on it in my roadster and jam gears. At fourth, I make two observations, I'm at 80 MPH plus and there is a State trooper in my rear view mirror.

He pulls me over and asks me if I know how fast I was going in a 60 MPH zone. I said I couldn't have been going too fast, I was only in fourth. He grinned and said " That don't impress me much, I have an '04 base coupe. It'll do 120 in fourth."
"Tell you what" he said, "keep it down around town." Then he grinned and said "happy April fools day" and got back in his car.

Here's my question for you tech guys that can do the math. Is that possible? My Tach says 3,000 at 57 MPH so I guess it is marginally attainable, just past redline.

I don't want to actually try it 'cause I think they still have the death penalty here in Missouri.

I do over 120mph daily here in Dallas. I've maxed out at 155mph over 15 times and I got 2 tickets on 02-11-08 coming from Mississippi to Dallas. One at 110mph and the other was clocked at 147mph but he wrote the ticket for 130mph so he didn't have to take me to jail. Even though they can take you to jail over 100mph he said that it took him right at 6 miles to catch up to me but there was something strange about me. I said something stranger than doing over 130mph? He said I've been doing this over 8 years, but I've never seen a dumb son of bisquit eater do over 130mph and put his damn signal light on every time he switched lanes at that speed. We both laughed our butts for a while and he said "How in the hell do you give a person a ticket for reckless driving if they are signalling like that?" He said slow it down and gave me the ticket for 130mph then said by the way "I knew you were the guy that got the ticket on the Tx border. My eyes bucked because the ticket was on the front seat from about and hour prior but we were outside the car and I know he didn't see it because I put it under a cd. I said how did you kow about that? He said the sorry fu**s in Louisiana couldn't catch you and they were on the radio saying it was a WHITE PORSCHE LOOKING CAR BLURRING DOWN INTERSTATE 20.. He said lucky I didn't get pulled over in Louisiana because they were straight talking of locking my butt up.. LOL.......... Too funny... LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the person who posted something about a govenor on the crossfire at 145 mph I don't know what you are talking about and you need a refund. Mine knocks off about 156 mph and I've done it so many times it's sick. As far as cops go, they are governed at 145 in crown victorias and 150 in dogde chargers. Even though the charger can run laps around us I still say if you are at a dead stop and I pass by you over 130 mph... Well... Let's just say you will be earning that ticket or ride to take me to jail because I'm getting on it harder...
