Red face Crossfire Vs. Ford Lighting

It so happens that my best friend has a 2003 Ford lighting. The other day we had lunch. When we left, we both stopped at a red light together. Well, he wanted to race. So, I was like what the hell (even though his truck has a hell of a lot of power comparatively.) The light turned green and we went. I was beating him until his supercharger kicked in. Even so, my front end was at his door handle when we had to slow it down.

So, not too bad for our Crossfire, eh?

Uh oh! I'll have to show my husband this thread... he swears his Lightning will beat anything (almost) but definitely my Crossfire!

He also says the driver has alot to do with it.

Yeah know, I have an automatic and I would think if you had a manual things would be a bit different. If I had my Borla on and maybe a bit better if an intake, then I could have. It was close. I will be seeing him again soon. I will post the rematch.

I remember a piece "Car and Driver" did a while back that showed a Lightning beating a Ferrari F40 in the quarter mile. Pretty impressive.

The Lightning has a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, making 380 horsepower with a two-valve SOHC head... big horsepower and not much weight... it does the 1/4 in 13.7... and runs 0-60 in 5.2... but you can beat it on top end, it tops out at 146 mph, but I read where it gets unstable at around 140 mph.. so if he beats you in the 1/4 go after him with a top end run... just hang on to you're azz if you've never been at the 150 mph mark... at that speed everything around you is backing up... hooah

I'm glad you had fun for a while, but the S/C is always "kicking in" when the gas is mashed. If I had to venture a guess, you had him for what, the first 60 feet. Those truck should run well into the 13's, so given enough road he would've smeared you and maybe caused you to go out and get yourself an SRT-6, then you could return the favor to him.

How does your SRT compare to the WS6?
I get the feeling that after driving both, the WS6 feels a bit wobbly around the corners.

Wobbly is a great way to describe it. It was tight and it is suppose to pull a .87G. But new technology such as the Crossfire SRT-6 and my wife's G35 came with and it feels old school. But there's no mistaking that big V-8 torque that pulls way beyond 120 MPH.
