Crossfire vs. Grand Prix GT??? (Do I have a shot?)
Re: Crossfire vs. Grand Prix GT??? (Do I have a shot?)
I too have one of those "old stories" about a car that was faster than spit. I had a 63 Austin-Healy 300 MKIII, red with red leather interior, wire wheels and an electric overdrive on the dash. 4 speed with a 6 cyl. Healy engine with 3 1 1/2" SU Carbs that I tuned to perfection. The exhast note was incredible and it drive like the wind.
At the time I lived in Providence, RI and used to hang up at college hill. All the kids from Brown and RISD used to have thier MGB's and some lotus europa's were around. I never took on more than I could chew but I could drive my butt off and beat many an MGB up the hill. Granted I could only get up to 3rd gear but I left them in the dust. I was never beaten and I raced some mustangs and some GTO's. Apexing the corners and driving it like I stole it. Did the same at Roger Williams Park, at night. Just that 6 cyl. with the SU's and 30 weight oil in the dampers made it all work.
And Yes!!! I race my Xfire at every opportunity, blow people away with speed and handling.
Our cars are world class, don't let anyone tell you any different.

Re: Crossfire vs. Grand Prix GT??? (Do I have a shot?)
If your CF is stock then save yourself the embarrassment. If you do a TVT 265-300 mod and you’re a decent driver you could win. I am talking from experience. Recently I had a discussion in the forum about a transam I street raced and won. Look it up. It may give you some ideas in the future. If you want to street race buy an SRT6. Great deal for the HP per $ you get.

97- 03 Yes you will win
04- on wards... closer
Just before I bought a crossfire I had a 2000 GTP... It only had 240hp and it was a heavy car. The gt model has 200hp, xfire has 215 and it is lighter..
lol Ill tell you one thing for sure... the xfire will dominate any of the GP's around corners... stright line you should still win even against the 03 gtp it would be close. 04 they upped the hp by 20 to 260 so it might win

By the way my parents lived in Newport RI on Cliff drive.
Glockhit is a great moniker, I assume you are a shooter as am I? IMy preference is 1911 style guns but I was a Glock armorer for several years, I love that gun too.
Something to be said about reviving old threads. I was looking for some photos I had seen of a treatment a guy did on his heat shields. Still can't find it but I thought the thread was good so I posted a response
