Default Quick Poll: Emissions test failures

Guys, just a quick question to see if anyone in the group has experienced emissions testing "failures" with their XF's. Obviously this should not be a problem with the relative age of this car, but I've run across two reports thus far of 05's (for sale) that had failed emissions tests and just wanted to see if the group had any such observations.
Thanks.

Emissions systems are under warranty for a long time (longer than the normal warranty). I can't imagine any problems in getting the problem corrected by Chrysler.

yeah entire emissions is warranted to like 100,000 miles maybe more.

I had mine tested when I moved to CA from TX. It had about 19K on it at the time. It passed with no problems. I can't see there being any more risk with the Crossfire than with any other relatively new vehicle.

Mine failed the OBD test. But that is because the battery was left to go dead and the car needed to relearn itself. After a few days driving it passed with no problems.

Some emissions-related components (like the catalytic converter) are warranted for 8 yrs/80K miles. Many other emissions-related components are only governed by the federal requirement of 2 yrs/24K miles (though Chrysler extends its warranty on all such parts to the 3 yr/36K bumper to bumper warranty.) However, if your vehicle fails a federally approved state emission test, the vehicle is repaired under the 80K warranty regardless of which emissions components are repaired. But if an emissions-related part (e.g. an oxygen sensor) goes bad after 36K but less than 80K, it would not be covered unless you've failed an emissions test. So if you live in a locale without emissions testing or won't have your next emissions test before 8 yrs or 80K miles are on the clock, you would be responsible for the repair costs. California has its own set of specific emissions warranty requirements.

Yeah, I think the only way you would see an emission test failure is in those locations that will fail you if your OBD is storing a fault code. They don't care what the code is - if it's there, they fail you. My daughter's car (not a Crossfire) failed for a code related to a transmission OD switch, so it can have nothing to do with emissions.

I think Fort Worth, TX is that way. A friend of mine had a car where the check engine light was on all the time. They wouldn't give her an inspection sticker with the light on and they wouldn't even bother to perform the test to see if it would pass. I unhooked the battery to reset the code in the parking lot next door and then took it over. It passed the test and they gave her a sticker. The check engine light came back on the way home.

Thanks guys, great info and support as usual. As I posted elsewhere, I just bought my XF yesterday, however, the last 3+ weeks have been a non stop search, test drives (I hated that part ), and VIN checks of a lot of cars, both new and used. There were a few "failed" emissions on used ones...noted on Carfax, so that prompted my question. Again, thanks for the help!
