Default Throttle Body

From my post yesterday- "ROUGH IDLING"... well the dealership service department just called me today- after taking it for a test run..and found the same problems I was explaining to them about when I am idle at a stop sign/light--the whole car begins to vibrate and move- and the engine feels like it wants to "stall out" but then smoothes out- and is fine. Doesn't happen all the time--just periodically. Well they said it is the "Throttle Body??? something about a valve that isn't closing or opening properly?

Does this sound familiar with anyone?? I mean=it only has 11,000 miles on it- 2005... seems kinda odd to me?

you could have air leakage right after where the MAF hooks up to the throttle body. try sealing the joint connection with some electrical tape or some other kind of sealer, to confirm it's not leaking there.
You could also spray either around the throttle body to check for leaks.

Thank you for the added information... I don't know a thing about cars/engines-- I would expect that my dealership should know these things... it's all covered under the warrenty- I just want the darn thing fixed-- it's not a repair that I'm doing myself... all I did was drop the car off- and told them to take care of the problem...

many thanks.

they are thinking its the IAC (idle air control) motor which is located on the throttle body on most cars (not sure on ours) ... it would make sense to look at this with the symptoms you are experiencing, if it has enough carbon on it (usually from meow footing it) the motor can stick causing hesitation, bucking, near stalls, etc...

I don't think we have IAC valve, because of the fact that we use throttle by wire throttle bodies, no reason for and IAC when the computer can control the throttle angle.
I'll have to purchase a repair manual soon so I know for sure.

So why don't they fix it?
It's right we have electronic throttle control (drive by wire). The throttle control drives the throttle valve. The signal for the throttle position sensor comes from the ecu (mainly from the accelerator pedal position sensor).
The throttle valve supplies the engine with air all the time - idle or driving.

Your car is under warranty. Bring it back to your dealer and let it be fixed. Maybe a throttle body must be replaced, maybe not. Let them find the real problem first before the start doing anything.

Good luck!
