Sorry for this off topic post, but the attack on Dan Root by Andrew is totally uncalled for.

Dan, you are 100% correct! Andrew, you are way off base on this one. As a moderator, you should have enough sense not to be ragging on someone because you don't agree with them. Dan has done nothing to deserve your post.

Dan can buy and sell for whatever he can get. That's called capitalism... buy/manufacture at a low price and sell at a profit. Who is to say how much is too much? If someone wants something bad enough and is willing to pay the asking price, what's the problem? You do that in your business everyday selling real estate, don't you?

You're not holding a grudge with Dan because he "improved" on your Crossfire decals, are you? Sometimes you amaze me. You normally display a level head and then you come up with a dumb a$$ statement like you did above. Shame on you!

Are you going to delete this post as you have done with some of my others when we didn't see eye to eye?

Dan, go for it!

Yes, we all have opinions, but when a moderator attacks someone for doing nothing wrong, that's different. Oh, and you never answered about your real estate business of buying low and selling unusually high, which is a major reason that has caused an enormous surge in home prices.

Andrew, your losing creditability... put your normal level headed moderator hat back on and stop attacking people for no reason.

~ no attack... just pointing out the obvious gouging when it takes place.

creditability with this board is not the major concern of mine. i monitor as needed and post as i wish. as you can do the same.

i hope you enjoy the board... if not... many others do. no one is keeping you here... its a choice to be involved with any boards.

cheers~

Who defines gouging, you? What is the cost to you for your stickers and you sell them here for what?

As for creditability, that and integrity ARE the basic traits of any good moderator.

well it is pretty f**ked up that you purchased it at such a low price, and try to sell it to a fellow board member at 300% profit but that's your right. was he wrong for pointing it out...probably, but i doubt he would have given you your requested $300+ anyways.

as for the emblems i sell... my cost is $16.01 (w/ tax) to the graphics company... plus packaging and postage. total cost: about $20.00 ... i profit $15.
not including the original set up and design charges of $150.

for any further questions or comments... please feel free to pm me.

Definitions are relative, and andrew just posted an example of gouging according to how HE defines it.

He is just presenting his opinion, and you are allowed to rightly present yours.

Again, when you define moderator, the traits of a good moderator are relative to your beliefs.

The way I see it Andrew is here only to make sure the forum is in working order and no illegal nor unacceptable practices/posting/discussion (according to the TOS of the crossfireforum.org) takes place.

We all have the freedom of speech, and I believe everyone should respect/tolerate the opinions of others. Whether or not you agree is your own choice.

It's okay for a person to buy low and sell high.

It's also okay from someone to tell you when someone buys low and tries to sell high.

This makes the consumer aware of the going rate for a product and will allow for the consumer to look for alternative creating a competitive environment -- a plus for the consumer.

This is a consumer forum, not a seller's forum IMO.

That is exactly right. Andrew is a major asset to this "consumer/owner" forum, first as a member and only second as a moderator. He provides useful facts and well-reasoned opinions. If his facts are accurate, then he deserves our thanks and not personalized curses. Hiding the truth may be an asset on eBay, but it shouldn't be here. This forum is valuable because it highlights credible information for its user members, and attacking the sources of that information only means there will be less of it in the future, which hardly serves anyone best interests, IMO.

I'll sell mine for $500. See now his is a deal. It's all relative, stop bickering. Besides those boxes aren't easy to find.

MMMMM... Now that we are thru fussen does anyone know the answer to MAYAman's question of where he can get one? Or is he still interested? If someone has one and will give me the part number cast on it I will see if I can order it thru my source at work and get a price, I work at a DC company.
As far as the fight just because you can doesn't mean you should but... Bad blood?

Paul, I'm still interested I just don't like all the arguing. I saw a pretty cool one for $100 bucks on Ebay but it say "aluminum engine cover" it doesn't come with any hoses or anything.

Reading the description I don't think you can, it's a 9 piece kit. The part that say's "Mercedes Benz" is actually part of the engine.

I will ask a friend at MB for the part number but I'm not sure which ones fits or what the one in the pic came off of, a SLK320? I think the parts on ebay are add on's to the existing cover to make it aluminum. I believe Dan's came from a V8 or at least from his pic's description he thinks so, does anyone know?
I know a lot of questions and no help.

I'll give mine away when I return my Xfire to dealer at lease end. As it's off a 500 v8 and I'll check for benz part # today. You may call me 805-701-9017.

Dan... Did you look at the parts on ebay? They look like they stick on to a cover like yours and the description talks about double sided adhesive. If that is what it is I guess it would look cool but I want to paint my XF one for now but may someday get one like Dan's. I talked to Dan once and he told me the larger air box helped his performance.

OK, the one you saw on ebay will not work unless you have a mercedes airbox to stick them to. The crossfire and MB ones are completely different. Any airbox from a v6 or v8 will fit as long as its NA. The hoses that come with the airbox need to be modified to fit within the crossfire dimensions. The only places i know to get them are through dealers new, and ebay used. Just keep an eye out and you'll find one.
