Default Crossfire Mistaken for a 350Z???

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had their Crossfire mistaken for a 350Z? I had a lets say a fun heated discussion with a couple girls that I work with and they kept on saying that my car looked like a Z. Then someone else also pointed out an Infinity (don't know what model). I told them they were all CRAZY!!!

what's so crazy about that ? a couple of girls mistook your 2 door sporty looking car for another 2 door sporty looking car... take off one wheel and call it a trike, they won't argue with you anymore because obviously a 3 wheels does not = 4 wheels... 99% of women out there have no clue about cars... and damn do i love talking to the remaining 1% cause those are the ones that have a real brain (strange but true, car savy girls are usually much much more intelligent, perhaps cause they comprehend the world around them better, or perhaps cause they have a better grasp of mechanics, car related or not).

I had my friend call me drunk from a bar thinking a 350z that had a similar color was my Crossfire and that it was not cool not to call him and invite him! He was so insulted. I think they are kinda similar from the back especially if you are drunk enough. LOL

People just can't admit that they just don't know.
I had people call my '71 challenger R/T a camaro!
I also had people say "I use to have a charger JUST like yours but it was a '74 with a small block and bench seat. It was exactly the same..."
Who cares YOU know what you have. Enjoy it.

It was funny. The 350Z and Infiniti G35 are basically the same car and should not be mistaken for the Crossfire, which looks (at least to me) more like the new BMW Z4 coupe and the Porsche Cayman from certain angles. And, yes, the Crossfire was out years before those two models...

I guess they were referring to the G35 Infinity, but anyone with any sense of form, could not mistake this car with either the Z or G35.

I recall my first road test, before they launched the XF...someone rolled up next to me and asked if it was a new Porsche...that was pretty funny.

In my teens, it was just that kind of visual acuity I was hoping for, from the female gender, when I drove a Corvair and hoped it would be mistaken for a Corvette.

Today, I was once again stopped by a woman asking about the Crossfire. It was like nothing she had seen before. Sober, smarter or more discerning. I'm OK with that.

Red face Re: Crossfire Mistaken for a 350Z???

well, recently my X-fire was mistaken for a porsche by a colleague, which is not a disappointing thing anyway. my neighbor asked me a couple of weeks ago "hey, this is a japanese car, isn't i?" I just thought "no, old man, it is not..." if people get to know the manufacturer, they are mostly very astonished, because the image of chrysler here is a bad one, which is the same with all US automakers.

it is the same situation here overseas, most people do not know what kind of car this is and open mouths can bee seen everytime you drive by a crowded place. damn, I love this machine!

I have had a couple people mistake my car for a 350Z. No big deal. Fact is people don't know what the F... it when they see it on the highway. I love to watch people stretching their neck as they go by trying to get a glimpse of some kind of identifying emblem or something. No such luck with my car. I run naked. (completely debadged). I can't wait till we get our new mesh grill from CTD. They won't have a clue what the heck just passed them.

Oh, and the worst mistaken identity was from my "know nothing about cars" brother in law. He saw the car in the garage and said "hey, when did you get the Oldsmobile?" WTF? Well, he wouldn't notice Jenna Jameson at a PTA meeting anyway.

The number one question I get is, what kind of car is that? I love it. I have a G35 coupe also, I've never met anyone who knew it is the same car as the 350Z!! Only much better.

The two people at work were my friends so I really couldn't get that pissed at them. I even printed out a picture of my cousins Z and one of them looked at is and said "this is your cousins car right? I see the nissan sign in the front" Being a total smart *** I sad that it was my car. She was so confused it was hilarious. Then I told her the truth. The other one said that she knew it was my cousins car by looking at the picture by looking at the door handles. go figure. We asked one of the guys that I work with If the cars look the same. He said maybe if the were both going about 180 mph!!!

Everywhere I go people say "That's a beautiful car... what is it?"

I have yet to debadge the car and probably won't. I think it's mainly because there are so few of them on the road that people don't recognize them.

I guess that's what I like about it, it's kinda unique (not completely, but close). Everywhere I look there are Mercedes SLs and SLKs, but VERY few crossfires of any type.

Black 2005 Crossfire SRT6

Ooooh... that's gonna leave a mark!

Odd. Mine hasn't been mistaken for a Z yet, but it has been mistaken for the following...

Mercedes (but it sort of really is).
Cadillac.
New Eclipse or Talon (You got to be kidding me. I wanted to beat that person).
Concept car.

Yes to most it's a mystery car and that's kind of the appeal. Most often it gets mistaken for a Mercedes or Cadillac. Of course we all know it really is a Mercedes underneath.

I had someone pull up beside me and ask if My Crossfire was a Cadillac, but never a 350z. Just the other day I thought I saw another Crossfire but it was a Lexus SC 430. I only thought it was a Crossfire for about a second.
