Are you still gonna buy another DC concept sportscar?
Are you still gonna buy another DC concept sportscar?
With Daimler Chrysler's betrayal to the first owners of the Crossfires, I've learned my lesson and I promised myself that I won't buy another DC car again!
But I'm keeping my Crossfire!

Are you still gonna buy another DC concept sportscar? ABSOLUTELY, without reservation! I personally can not wait until DC releases the Challenger R/T. I am not getting rid of the Crossfire, there is place for grace and then there is the need for muscle. I don't feel that I was betrayed in any way by DC, granted their Service in most cases is unacceptable but that appears to be the accepted norm for most industries these days. Regarding the pricing, I paid $29K on April 30, 2004 with extended warranty, used 04 Crossfires in this area are still going for $22K-$25K so from my point of reference the depreciation is about normal. Granted the Crossfire never came close to the popularity of DC's previous concept car, the PT Cruise, but let's face it a two seater car isn't practical it is an indulgence. I had the car for two years and owe about $9K and I can honestly say I am very happy with the car I did my research and it has met my expectations. I do have to concede that the Service side of DC has not met my expectations but thankfully this forum has been very helpful. Our forum is a great source of information and also a good place to vent.

Any time you purchase a car you're taking a chance. Especially a new breed such as the DC / MB Crossfire.
For me..., I saw it, I liked it, I bought it, I modified it and I love it. I feel like I got a good deal for the $$$ and I'm happy. Like the major majority of Crossfire owners. We've got something many wish they had and others try to copy... STYLE!
I think that in the long run, the DC / MB relationship will pay off big! And we own the car that started it all. I hope I'm right (just tryin to keep the glass half full) ...
Cyril... you'd look good in the Roosterpit of one of those Firepowers!

I saw one in the chrysler museum that was done to like 98%.
I fell in love. It is a must see in person.

This was my first Chrysler and perhaps my last. I love the car. It's not so much that I feel betrayed as I am just disappointed. My service department is quite good but there are never any parts in stock. It's not like I live way out in the woods for crying out loud. A couple of weeks back a bubble appeared on my front tire the day before I was planning to take it for a weekend getaway. Nope, no tires in Chicago. No tires in Illinois. Perhaps tires in Cleveland and perhaps we can get em in a week. This is the second time that I have heard this story. The first time was in Feb. '04. It's apparent that DC does not see this as a problem. They don't even stock windshield wipers for the thing. Anything that I've ever needed was back ordered.

Re: Are you still gonna buy another DC concept sportscar?
Yes we could find almost all the parts at other locations but I understand what he is saying. When you by a car from other high end dealers, Mercedes, Cadillac etc. you can walk in and be serviced. Most items in stock and most people have to tell them I don't want the factory wiper blades at $25.00 each when NAPA has them for $8. But when you do want to keep your car 100% factory (subconsciously you think the parts are better and sometimes they are) you feel you are taking the best care of your car. I never would of got my oil changed at the dealer the first 30 years of my life but now that I can afford the extra few dollars I have peace of mind knowing its right and backed by the dealer. When you go in and they don't have basic parts and when you ask for them they look at you like they are doing you a favor you feel as though Chrysler has abandoned you. Not a good feeling for repeat business.
Re: Are you still gonna buy another DC concept sportscar?
It would depend on what it is and how much it costs. I never thought I'd have a Crossfire, the first one I saw was 37K. I'm happier with my Crossfire than any car I've owned, there's just nothing else like them. But I never say never. I've also owned two PT's (a Ltd and a GT). They are great cars but when everybody and their 90 year old grandma has one I start looking for something different. So far (KOW) I haven't been let down by DC's service. The 3 dealerships I've used have been very good so that's not an issue but as of right now I LOVE my Crossfire.
