While the mesh on the sema grill is nice, the entire grill as a whole is ugly. It looks cheap, is set too far back and just leaves the wing logo hanging there. The Bentley mesh is hearty and thick. That is the type of mesh that should be used. Or the mesh on the from the Jaguar XJRs.

As is though I'm curious to see what they do.

Yep, I think most of us are pretty much on the same page here. If CTD can do it, the response from this forum should be very quick and very positive.

that's a one-off grill done for a SEMA show (IIRC) a year or two ago. NOT available for purchase; never went into production --
WOW! former NXMX5, I'm impressed. You really pulled that one out. Done your homework.
I've had that photo for quite a while because I love that grill.
If thou shall not covet thy neighbors grill... I have sinned.
This thread is going to go on forever...until we can get THAT grill made for our Crossfires.

I made some photoshops of how I think the grill will look as Tino has it now and how it would look with the mesh bigger and pushed more forward. This is just a guess so don't mind my terrible photoshop skills.

This is not meant to sway anybody, just my thoughts on possible look of the grill.

Nice work, MAYAman. Thanks. Nothing like a picture to stimulate thought. And a nice sunshield, too...

LOL if anybody has an official crossfire sunshield please sell it to me so I can get rid of that extra large baggy one.

what concerns me is that we're creating another seam with this CTD prototype. the top of the bumper has to mate perfectly with the fiberglass or its going to look like a chop job. and fiberglass doesn't like to bend and conform... then it could turn into a front end job... cuz we'll be bondo-ing the bad seam.

but like everyone else, this is all just concern and speculation... still waiting.

I think MAYAman has it right. And his version is closer to what I think we all expected. At least, I know that I'm disappointed in what we've been shown so far.
I'm losing interest, but I, too, will wait and see. I repeat, I wish they'd shown us their concept before taking things so far.

NXMX5, I'm thinking that they wouldn't release a product that didn't fit right. Just a guess. I've bought several products from them and didn't have any quality issues. What would make you think you'll have to be bondoing a part from them? Did anybody here have to bondo your side strakes, windshield chrome, or anything else?

Again don't mean to be an ******* but some of these answeres are a little funny. Precedence has shown their products to be quality, all of a sudden they can't make a straight seam?

The bigger concern is the styling not the quality as I think the quality will be fine.

Maybe a side by side shot with a "stock" XF grille and your photoshoped version, eh? Great job on the Photoshop!

I just bought the mesh, should be here tomorrow or friday. Hopefully I ordered the right size. I'm just going to make my own. The mesh size should be similar to what is seen above.

Where did you get such heavy mesh? I ordered samples from all over the web and all I got was thin crap *** ricer junk. I want to buy that thick bentley mesh damn it.

This just for info, but I was down in London yesterday and Bentley Continentals were everywhere so I had a good look at their grills. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me so couldn't get any pics (pity since I also saw Elvis Costello and an Enzo outside Claridges)! What I did discover is that 'mesh' doesn't adequately describe the grille material, its much more a 3D matrix. I will call into the Bentley dealer down the road from my office and get some proper pics tomorrow, but in the meantime here's a library shot so you can see what I mean:

Well my first sample of mesh came in. If I wanted to make a chicken coup it would be nice, not for my car.

Yes woody it is much more intricate and thick. Its like almost a dough made out of metal that a baker would twist to make a fancy pastry. All the mesh I've seen for aftermarket has been utter garbage.
