High end speed
Re: High end speed
ALL cars sold in Germany are limited by the manufacturers to 155. This is by an agreement between manufacturers rather than by law. Of course, there are ways to defeat this function and apparently many buyers do this.
According to the test reports I have read, the SRT6 has a speed limiter set to 158. The regular NA XF does not have a speed limiter, but will hit its engine's rev limiter (ca. 6,200 rpm) at right around 150 mph.
Please note that the Crossfire is not particularly aerodynamic. While it has a relatively small frontal area, the cD -- coefficient of drag -- is a relatively high 0.39. By contrast, the current M-B C Klasse sedan has a fine cD of 0.29. Most current road cars claim a cD in the low-to-mid 0.3xx range. The lowest claim I've ever read for a real world road car is 0.27 (perhaps the Honda Insight?). The lowest claims I've seen for ultra-high efficiency prototypes was around 0.14, for cars with skirted front and rear wheels running extremely narrow high-pressure tires, all completely impractical in world of real roads.

Re: High end speed
I hit 130 MPH while driving to Sault Ste. Marie, MI. about 10 miles north of the Mackanac Bridge on I-75. Amazingly steady and I could feel the xfire hug the ground at about 110. Wow what a rush! I would have gone faster but I was afraid Bambi would cut across the f-way to become a hood ornament.
Re: High end speed
I was southbound on a remote stretch of freeway in cali it was midnight. The crossfire was doing 151 mph on a slight downgrade, headlights off guided by the moonlight, radio blasting---stealth mode--- it was a beautiful thing. Passed a CHP sitting on the northbound side of the road on the other side of the freeway, he turned his lights on and busted a u onto the southbound then his lights turned off- beat that cop. For safety I got off at the next exit and had a bite to eat. The car is perfectly stable, glued to the road and easy to control. Although I was getting tunnel vision above 140. Putting your hand out the window at 150 is fun.
Re: High end speed
I just hit 140 mph this morning on my way to work. Don't know what got into me as I promised my wife I wouldn't bust 100 mph again. Anyway, I think it must have been the triple Expresso and the SRT8 I was running with down I-75 at 90 mph. When I got on I-94 a BMW 5 Series was coming up fast. I was doing about 90 mph by myself. The BMW gets over like I'm a granny driving in the fast lane... man I took that kinda personal and floored the pedal. It's unbelievable how fast I got to 120 mph and 140 mph. The engine still had life in it. I had to take it down, I was getting close to my exit and traffic was getting 3 wide. The dumb thing was I floored it going through the center lane, any knuckle head could have changed lanes right in front of me and I would have been toast. Never been that fast before!
Hey Fuzz, Shhh.

I will say though that my S2 Porsche at the same speed felt more stable, but only because of the Koni and H&R suspension and weltmiester sway bars.

But I doubt that with chip and catback 168 mph can be achieved. There must be more HP involved...
@ABlueSRT6: There shouldn't be any vibrations at 140 mph not at 150 mph. I often do top speed. The XF is like on guide rail. The only negative effect is wind noise ... and higher pulse.

Thanks I'll definitely take it in then!
