Default Old subject - New question

I am seriously considering taking the crossfire badge off the rear of the car. The car I owned prior to this was a 350Z. There were two badges and an nissan insignia on the trunk. A large portion of the guys including me took off the badges. The one big plus is that you can readily buy the badges for a reasonable price and reinstall them if you don't like it without them. Has anyone debadged and then tried to buy the emblem from Chrysler? I'm thinking that you should be able to buy them, but I also think like everything else you want to buy for this car, the letters would be very expensive. Has anyone tried?

If you own a roadster, it won't look good being debadge (as they don't have the boattail style). But for a coupe, it makes it much more cleaner to look at the flow of the boattail and the spine down to the rear bumper!

Check out my gallery for pix!

I totally agree with what you say about the look and how it has a nice flow. Just wondering if you can purchase the badge from Chrysler if you ever wanted to re-install it. BTW my badge will be off by this weekend. Your car looks beautiful.

use a blow dryer to heat the letter/emblem... and a piece of fishing line or dental floss...once the letter/emblem is heated, slide the fishing line under the letter and move it back n forth until letter falls off. do NOT pull up on semi loosened letter... you may chip the paint on the sharp letter edge. use "goo gone" (available at any hardware store) on a towel to remove remaining adhesive. polish paint surface with any non-abrasive polish... then wax.

enjoy!

Andrew - Thanks for the instructions. I have an '05 base and have been wondering what to do. After looking at the pics, I think I may go for it. Debadge along with the whiter bulbs you posted (thanks) for the plate on a black car, it may look really cool.

Andrew
When your lease is up, do you have the letters to tack back on? Or, are you going to hope the dealer doesn't notice? Hehe...seriously, are you going to order new ones?

my lease is up late october '07.

nope... i will turn it in without the badging.

i just turned in my wife's X5 in w/o the rear "X5" badge on and w/o the "4.4i" badges on the front fenders. they don't seem to care.

they are just happy to get back a near perfect car...

i think the easiest way and the fastest way, is to on just a warm day 85+ degrees, just take a credit card and slide it behind the letter. they pop right off, and it leaves alot less residue, just be careful, to not be rough. mine looks like letters were never their and took like 5 minutes to do.

Assuming that you actually wanted to put the letters back on, what adhesive product would you use? I know it's a strange question, but what better place to ask about putting things on than a thread about how to take them off? Thanks.

3m or similar automotive grade double sided tape. Stick on the emblem and trim with a razor blade. Then peel and stick on car.
