A little information on what the Sprint Booster will do for some of our newer members.

"What can a Sprint Booster do for me? Most 2000-up model cars no longer use the conventional throttle cable and have replaced it with an ECM (Electronic Control Module) designed to translate how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic instruction to provide power to the wheels.
The ETC (Electronic Throttle Control), otherwise known as "Drive-By-Wire", causes a delayed response and subdues acceleration, creating problems in situations such as quick gear changes, pulling into traffic, passing other vehicles and up-hill starts.
The Sprint Booster Power Converter eliminates this delayed throttle response and provides immediate on-tap acceleration whenever the driver demands it! Most cars have a 1 second lag between when the pedal is pushed and the car actually responds. The Sprint Booster corrects this problem instantly giving you all your vehicles power with no hesitation. Give your vehicle a Throttle Boost!" HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH IT FEELS FASTER, THE SPRINT BOOSTER DOES NOT INCREASE POWER! It DOES feel faster because the response is quicker"

"SPRINT BOOSTER MADE THE DRIVER INPUT TO THE THROTTLE APPROXIMATELY HALF A SECOND TO 1 SECOND QUICKER, ESSENTIALLY MAKING THE INSTANT ACCELERATION FEEL LIKE A LIGHTNING QUICK CABLE TO THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM..."

The Sprint Booster has been around for quite some time. Many members on the forum have purchased them. This new "selectable" model with indicator lights allows you to run without the benefit or the Sprint Booster in "factory" mode, a small boost in "Sport" mode and full boost in "Race" (track) mode.

I had hesitated to purchase this add-on because I didn't want it "always on", the selectable version gives you the ability to choose at the touch of a button.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, where do you recommend that one mounts the new button?

I tell jokes for a living, please think twice before handing me a statement like that LOL

Seriously, I am not sure. I ordered one for myself, when it arrives, I promise to share the info with everyone.

I found that the L.E.D. was a little too bright for my taste, so I mounted it under the steering column, just within a comfortable reach. The sticky tape it came with was not strong enough to stay put, so I used some better two sided tape I had, and is holding just fine. The added benefit of this location besides stealth, is a barely detectable mellow glow at night in the pedal area. Red or Green, depending on what you're up to! Bob

DJ, would Franc mislead you?......it does make a world of difference for us throttle jockies....others just get use to the delay...the one I have for the coupe is just rediculous....breath on the throttle, and hold on...the roadster's which I purchased 3 yrs ago, is a little more subdued ...I will wait for Karl's review...it should be a good one...there was a guy who said he could build them for $30....don't know what ever happened to him, maybe a "greek" assasin got him....lol

Talking Re: New Throttle Boost Sprint Booster

I had to bag the velocity booster because it would not work reliabily on the SRT and kept throwing codes. I am going to try to install it in my new 2009 ram 1500 slt to see if it will work there, it had 3 levels of action and faulted in each and every position.

Ill be interested in the read back on the new booster, I use an old SB on my SRT cause it works well for me, though this year Iam coming out with a mod that will be quite revolutionary and that is no boast. It just has to be built and tested to confirm the operation and then Rob will be looking at providing them if others are interested......ENJOY W DY

Aplologies to those who have ordered the new selectable Sprint Booster from me.

It appears the Mfg has not kept their delivery promise. They are expected in a couple weeks, however, without a firm date, I will not keep funds that were forwarded to me. I have issued paypal refunds to those who did order this item.

The company I am dealing with appears to be very reliable and I requested them to refund my payments as well. They complied immediately and said they would let me know when they are readily available.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Karl

I've reported and commented numerous times on how it functions, where I placed the switch, how good this selectable unit is,etc. but i'm not a SOMEBODY here, so hopefully Karls' review will be more satisfying to you. It sounds like he just finally got these in. I'm sure he's out there creating his review right now. I'm already sold.

Easy Bob! Just didn't see your results amongst all of the SB threads.
Your comments were just what I was looking for!
For those that are interested in Bob's comments I have posted them here.

Hey, SOMEBODY had to do it!

I believe that with the older ones there were 2 to choose from; 1 was too responsive(jerky) for many folks and the other was smoother. The older members would know more about this. I believe that they just gave us both capabilities w/ the newer "Selectable" version. Perhaps ask them if the older one that you're looking at is more like the "Sport Mode" or the "Race Mode" in the newer version? Whatever you decide; you will have way better response than stock, for certain.

My wife loves the new response in sport mode and thought I "chipped it" until I explained to her about throttle by wire. The Race mode does freak her out though, and I always remember to leave it in sport mode after I'm done playing. I found the little selecter button lights were a little bright for my taste, so I mounted it up directly under the steering column. Out of sight, but within reach. At night it is a nice dim green glow(or red,if your out speeding about) for the pedal area. Yes, it was a little pricey @ $329. but would say for certain that it's a good bang for the buck. I know that a lot of Forum members have the older SB's and know there were (2) models, (1) was too aggressive for some. They must have just put the 2 into 1 and gave us a light button to switch between the modes. I'm enjoying it. The only negative I have was having to contort top half of body down into the pedal area. If I had to do it again(and for us old guys)I would just remove the drivers seat and eliminate a lot of frustration! And I found that a pair of standard tweezers spread open(couldn't find my magnet) worked perfect to pull the washer up & out from pedal stud after removing the 10mm nut.

Well DJ, I do sometimes forget that what I have to say isn't as important to others as it is to me lol. I haven't tried and don't know how to place old quotes in a different thread as you did, newbie you know. Cut & paste? I do want you to know that I really appreciate all of the veteran forum members such as yourself, especially those that have contributed with parts/ inventions and share w/ all of us. As an old modder, finding this Forum has been great. So far, my wife hasn't freaked out with the increased power; do you think she'll notice when I install a 185?
