Default FS in PA: 2004 SSB 6 speed

Well the time has come to sell the XF. As you know I have not had this car long but there was a promise made to the wife and I need to fufill it and in order to do that this car will need to move on.

The Crossfire is located in a little town called Akron PA 17501.

About the car:

I bought the car in Louisville KY and I believe I am the third owner but I'm not 100% sure about that. The car was titled in VA and KY in its lifetime and here in PA too. The car has never seen a PA winter but I can't say the same for the other place it has lived. The car has a few dings and a scratch here and there and stuff like that. The leather looks great. The car has 109k on it right now. The car also has a clear bra on it and I have to say that this will be a requirment on all new cars I ever own from here on out. I'm sold on this. For inspection the car took a few things (PA inspections are very tough): (all of this was about 2500 miles ago) All 4 tires are Kumho and are Z rated and matching, alignment, rear brakes, a few bulbs. The oil was changed about 3k ago and as you all know that is still good yet. I just put a new cabin airfilter in it too the other week. The car will come with another Mann Oil filter and a new crank sensor as I had bought these parts for "backup". I do not know anything more about its service life from its past owners. This car has never been smoked in. The lighter is new looking.

The car has been in 2 accidents (according to an autocheck report I have) but I can tell you they were very minor or were just scrapes. The driver side front fender was repainted and the headlight was replaced but I have a feeling it was a long time ago as the "new" light has a little bit of haze to it. The rear bumper was repainted at one point too but all the panels match very well. This car is not a patchwork quilt. There is a small ding that was near the fuel filler but it was mostly removed by a PDR guy. It is not perfect but neither is the car.

As far as I can tell everything works. This car is great and I have to say I loved it dearly but a promise is a promise.

This car was just down at the Dragon and did the whole trip (1400 miles in a weekend) without as much as even a hiccup. I even got 31 mpg on the way home with the AC on. As you can tell I trust this car to run...would I go to California in it tomorrow? You bet.

My overall opinion of this car: if you are the type of guy who has an "OMG my XF is beautiful and I never drive it in the rain" and wish you did have one that was "lesser" then this is your car. If you are "new" to the scene this is a great starter car too.

Keep in mind this is 6 speed manual.

I'm asking for offers on it at this time. Low ballers will be laughed at and I know what I can get on a trade if it comes down to that. I'm going to offer it here first then later on elsewhere. I wanted to give the true enthusiasts the first shot at it.

Questions etc either post here or email me direct: subeman@aol.com

Ok, I go talk to the bank today about re-fi on the house. While we wait for THAT, got some questions (thought I'd ask them publicly in case my deal falls thru and someone else wants your car! Like that 16 year old on here..)

What on the car is NOT factory? (You know, exhaust, radio, shift ****, engine/breather cover, etc.)

If it's a factory radio - Nav or Non-Nav?

Thought I had more questions, but I guess that's about it.

car is dead stock with the exception of it having K&N airfilters, a clear bra, and "cool blue" headlight bulbs. (I didn't do any of these things)

Stock radio and no nav.

So, what is the new price?

I hate to suggest I would buy this for a "parts" car (blasphemy, the horror) but I may need a stock engine. Once the insurance adjuster gives me his report, I may be looking at something like that.

Then, I will have the '04 stick shifter to use as a platform for something special. Like a twin turbo or perhaps follow the V8 transplant road already blazed by a brave Texan.

Hard to bring the 'vert to the race track. It can just remain a pitbull for the street scene.

Just musing for now. But this weekend, I find out the news on my waterlogged roadster.

Stay tuned.

$7900 is the new price.

I"ve never seen an XF lower than (I THINK) $7500 unless you count the WRECKED ones!

There is you stick shift daily driver PIZZAGUY.

It is a blowout price.

I have seen one lower, same colour and model at 123K miles, and an 04 Aero Blue for $8300. I would own it today but had my money tied up helping out pals in a couple of other car deals.

Both of them Crossfires.

I hate to put it in these terms but I need a "beater Crossie"

I must be a stick shift
It must be a coupe.
It must be a bargain.

Open to anything else.

This one fits but I'm still stuck with my cash out for other things.

BTW, for those who are worried about the miles ask yourself this question, would you buy a Benz 320 SLK with these miles on it ? If you could steal it for less than 60% of current retail price?

Don't worry about the milage. These cars don't break because you drove them too far, or too hard. Just if you hit something.
Like a really big puddle.

I found a few others, but not as low as that! Had a black one for $8600 yesterday up around Chicago... but the listing is gone now.

MAN, wish I didn't dislike SSB so much.

What's wrong with SSB ?

Racist!

You should love it for the content of it's charater, not the color of it's skin. There are no ugly Crossfires. Just the slower black ones.

the interior is grey or something like that. It is not the Cedar (I was going to buy one of these but I wasn't so sure of that color interior)

Ok well I have given it some thought and before it gets traded I am going to take a different approach: MAKE OFFER

Maybe I am too high for a price or maybe nobody here wants it anyhow so I am going to take offers on the car. PLEASE don't throw out stupid low offers that are just going to get turned down anyhow. If you are truely interested in buying this car make an offer you are comfortable with and email it to me. Please if you do make an offer have the funds available to back it up ASAP (can close a deal in 1 week etc)

As always if you want to see it and drive it let me know and we can work it out.

If you like it and want to buy it (and need it shipped) I can take it to a DAS terminal for you for a few extra bucks.

I might also consider a partial trade on a 4x4 Jeep liberty

Here's a craigslist ad in my area.....Red 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. Automatic. Car is in excellent condition, 26-28 mpg. 110xxx miles. This car is built by Mercedes. If you know about this car then you know it is loaded with everything. $7500.00..... My question -- is this a good price? BTW, I test drove this one before I purchased my '05 base model. It drove good, I was worried at that time about the high miles.

That is only the second car I've seen for sale over 100,000 miles. What are these cars worth with that mileage? I know at 40,000 miles I see some at $13K... by 80K they are down to around $10K...?

There is one near me, Graphite Gray, 99,000 miles with new tires and brakes in front (rotors, too) for $9995.

I am about ready to offer him $9000 and see what happens.

the car can easily do 100k and I would bet on 200k. It is solid as a rock and uses no oil. Don't forget it has new tires all around and new rear brakes too.

Kbb values the car in my area:
trade: 5k
private: ~7k
retail: 9755

Why are you looking at that when subeman has a similar milage car and willing to deal?
Along with everything else, he is family.

The dealer selling a car for $7500 paid $5000 for it. You willing to believe a Crossie worth $5K is clean, clear, and ready to go?

I'm not going to berate your stomping on this thread but I will suggest you take a good look at the difference of these two cars.

A plane ticket to Harrisburg is less than three hundred and I'll bet you could work out a pickup on the other end. If you need comformation of it's condition I'll wager somebody near there will confirm it.

BTW, SSB is a lot faster than Inferno Red. Everyone knows that.

Franc --- I apologize for the confusion that my post caused. I meant for my post to be in reply to PIZZAGUY, about high mileage Xfires (the post copied above). The craiglist ad that I mentioned was for one with over 110,000 miles for $7500. I didn't know if that was a great price, as the loan value (with my Credit Union) was only $5500. I test drove it before I bought my coupe, and before I joined this forum. I am truly sorry for the confusion. And, thanks for not berating me.
