New Audio Installed -BUT- Spoiler gone haywire... HELP!
New Audio Installed -BUT- Spoiler gone haywire... HELP!
I installed the pioneer mp3 player head unit in my xfire. Installation was smooth thanks to the posts around here. It sounds and works great... BUT
My rear spoiler now deploys at around 5 mph and stays up. The light on the spoiler dash switch blinks and the switch is inactive until i turn the car off and back on again. This problem occurs whether the radio is on or off. I can't imagine what I did to mess up the spoiler. Do you think i could have messed something during stuffing all the audio wires down behind the dash?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

did you remove the console to install the radio? you should have been able to get the stock deck out without touching the rest of the dash. IIRC there aren't alot of other wires back there that the radio can interfere with; just the console frame itself.

Problem solved. There are 2 blue wires on the scosche harness that both must be connected to the blue remote turn on wire on the pioneer. Everything works fine when I do this, hopefully I wont let the smoke out of any electronics. Thanks for your help!
Re: New Audio Installed -BUT- Spoiler gone haywire... HELP!
The harness I got from crutchfield doesn't have any blue or blue/white wires. Only a pink wire for the amp. I'm assuming right now i've got everything wired up correctly. The only reason I'm not sure is because I can't get the #(@#(*$ factory deck out. I've got the tools from crutchfield and am using ends for "Mercedes applications" but still no luck. The tools are certainly sharp though, my fingers are all cut up from the rough edges. I'm concerned about the different colors on the harnesses... we'll see how it goes.

Here it is, October 2011and I'm at the car stereo shop with the same problem! I showed this thread to the techs, and they're trying again with a Scoshe harness. Thanks, guys!
Blaupunkt deck going in, but the same symptoms you had with your Pioneer.

for pictures of the tool.
The curved part of each tool faces toward the center of the radio, it helps if you lubricate it a bit with vaseline or whatever on the curved ramp, as there can be some rough edges in there.
