Smile How-To: Custom Subwoofer Enclosure Without Losing Trunk Space

I wanted to show everyone the custom subwoofer enclosure that I created for my new 2004 Crossfire Coupe that I recently picked up with less than 12,000 miles on it. I really wanted to put two 12" subs in the back, but without losing a significant amount of trunk space and it turned out fantastic.

I also took the time to create a complete in-depth article on the entire process (how to build the enclosure) that includes all parts that I used for the project. Hopefully this will inspire someone else! Here is a direct link to my article:

Creative! not seen any others like yours (using that lower cavity) to date (just an observation), and you put a helluva lot of work into both the planning and construction! Curious if you made something to 'cover' the speakers when your transporting anything? I bet they sound crazy if the amp is driven? Are you having any body/trim distortion? Have FUN!

Thanks! I did cover the subs with some heavy-duty high-excursion grills so that I can load up the trunk when needed without worrying about damaging the subs. I have put upwards of 50+ pounds (on each grill) thus far with no problems. You can see the grills in the main pic of this primary post, and I also included more info about them in the article I linked.

And yes, they hit incredibly hard (currently driven with a cheaper 2600-watt amp). Everything shakes in a big way, but there are surprisingly few rattles anywhere to be found.
